Verse:001
Abdul Daryabadi : The emulous desire of abundance engrosses you,
Dr. Mohsin : The mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things) diverts you,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : You are distracted by mutual competition in amassing (worldly benefits),
Pickthal : Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you
Yusuf Ali : The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : until you visit the graves,
Dr. Mohsin : Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Until you reach the graves.
Pickthal : Until ye come to the graves.
Yusuf Ali : Until ye visit the graves.


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : Lo! you shall soon know,
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! You shall come to know!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! (This is not a correct attitude.) You will soon know (the reality).
Pickthal : Nay, but ye will come to know!
Yusuf Ali : But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : Again lo! you shall soon know.
Dr. Mohsin : Again, Nay! You shall come to know!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Again, you will soon know.
Pickthal : Nay, but ye will come to know!
Yusuf Ali : Again, ye soon shall know!


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : Lo! would that you knew now with sure knowledge!
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have been occupied yourselves in worldly things)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! Only if you knew (it) with a sure knowledge!
Pickthal : Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge!
Yusuf Ali : Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (Ye would beware!)


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Surely you shall behold the Scorch.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : You will certainly see the Hell,
Pickthal : For ye will behold hell-fire.
Yusuf Ali : Ye shall certainly see Hell Fire!


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : Then you shall behold with sure vision.
Dr. Mohsin : And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then you will see it with full certitude.
Pickthal : Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision.
Yusuf Ali : Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : Then on that Day, you shall be questioned about the delights.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delights[] (you indulged in, in this world)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then you will be asked about all the pleasures (you enjoyed in the world).
Pickthal : Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure.
Yusuf Ali : Then shall ye be Questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in)!
