Verse:001
Abdul Daryabadi : Have We not opened for thee thy breast?
Dr. Mohsin : Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (SAW))?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Have We not caused your bosom to be wide open for you? [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate,
Yusuf Ali : Have We not expanded thee thy breast?―


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : And We have taken off from thee thy burden,
Dr. Mohsin : And removed from you your burden,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We removed from you your burden
Pickthal : And eased thee of the burden
Yusuf Ali : And removed from thee thy burden


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : which weighed down thy back.
Dr. Mohsin : Which weighed down your back?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : That had (almost) broken your back, [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Which weighed down thy back;
Yusuf Ali : The which did gall thy back?―


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : And We have exalted thy fame.
Dr. Mohsin : And have We not raised high your fame?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We raised high your name. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And exalted thy fame?
Yusuf Ali : And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily then along with every hardship is ease.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, along with every hardship is relief,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease.
Pickthal : But lo! with hardship goeth ease,
Yusuf Ali : So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily along with every hardship is ease.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, along with hardship is relief (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Lo! with hardship goeth ease;
Yusuf Ali : Verily with every difficulty there is relief.


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : Toil then when thou art relieved.
Dr. Mohsin : So when you have finished (your occupation), devote yourself for Allâh's worship.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, when you are free (from collective services), toil hard (in worship), [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : So when thou art relieved, still toil
Yusuf Ali : Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And attend thou to thy Lord.
Dr. Mohsin : And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And towards your Lord turn with eagerness.
Pickthal : And strive to please thy Lord.
Yusuf Ali : And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.
