Verse:001
Abdul Daryabadi : By the morning brightness,
Dr. Mohsin : By the forenoon (after);[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : I swear by the forenoon,
Pickthal : By the morning hours
Yusuf Ali : By the Glorious Morning Light.


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : by the night, when it darkens.
Dr. Mohsin : By the night when it darkens (and stands still).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by the night when it becomes peaceful,
Pickthal : And by the night when it is stillest,
Yusuf Ali : And by the Night when it is still―


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : Thy Lord has not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.
Dr. Mohsin : Your Lord (O Muhammad (SAW)) has neither forsaken you nor hates you.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Your Lord (O Prophet,) has neither forsaken you, nor has become displeased. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,
Yusuf Ali : The Guardian-Lord Hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : And the Hereafter is indeed better unto thee than the present life.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present (life of this world).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely the Hereafter is much better for you than the present life.
Pickthal : And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,
Yusuf Ali : And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : And soon shall thy Lord give unto thee so that thou shalt be well-pleased.
Dr. Mohsin : And verily, your Lord will give you (all good) so that you shall be well-pleased.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And of course, your Lord will give you so much that you will be pleased. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.
Yusuf Ali : And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Did he not find thee an orphan? so He sheltered thee.
Dr. Mohsin : Did He not find you (O Muhammad (SAW)) an orphan and gave you a refuge?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Did He not find you an orphan, and give you shelter?
Pickthal : Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?
Yusuf Ali : Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : And He found thee wandering, so He guided thee.
Dr. Mohsin : And He found you unaware (of the Qur'ân, its legal laws, and Prophethood) and guided you?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And He found you unaware of the way (the Shari‘ah ), then He guided you.
Pickthal : Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)?
Yusuf Ali : And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And he found thee destitute, so He enriched thee.
Dr. Mohsin : And He found you poor, and made you rich (selfsufficient with selfcontentment)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And He found you in need, then made you need-free.
Pickthal : Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)?
Yusuf Ali : And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.


Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore as to the orphan, be not thou overbearing unto him.
Dr. Mohsin : Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Therefore, as for orphan, do not oppress him,
Pickthal : Therefor the orphan oppress not,
Yusuf Ali : Therefore treat not the orphan with harshness;


Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : and as to the beggar, chide him not;
Dr. Mohsin : And repulse not the beggar;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And as for the beggar, do not scold him.
Pickthal : Therefor the beggar drive not away,
Yusuf Ali : Nor repulse the petitioner (Unheard);


Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : and as to the favours of thy Lord, discourse thou thereof.
Dr. Mohsin : And proclaim the Grace of your Lord (i.e. the Prophethood and all other Graces).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And about the bounty of your Lord, do talk. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.
Yusuf Ali : But the Bounty of thy Lord rehearse and proclaim!
