Verse:001Abdul Daryabadi : When the heaven is sundered.
Dr. Mohsin : When the heaven is split asunder,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : When the sky will split apart,
Pickthal : When the heaven is split asunder
Yusuf Ali : When the Sky is rent asunder,
Verse:002Abdul Daryabadi : And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous,
Dr. Mohsin : And listens to and obeys its Lord — and it must do so;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And will listen to (the command of) its Lord,__ and it ought to,__
Pickthal : And attentive to her Lord in fear,
Yusuf Ali : And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord--and it must needs (do so)--
Verse:003Abdul Daryabadi : And when the earth shall be stretched forth.
Dr. Mohsin : And when the earth is stretched forth,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when the earth will be stretched (to give room to more people), [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And when the earth is spread out
Yusuf Ali : And when the Earth is flattened out
Verse:004Abdul Daryabadi : And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty.
Dr. Mohsin : And has cast out all that was in it and become empty,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And it will throw up whatever it contains, and will become empty, [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty
Yusuf Ali : And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty
Verse:005Abdul Daryabadi : And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous.
Dr. Mohsin : And listens to and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And will listen to (the command of) its Lord,__ and it ought to,__ (then man will see the consequences of his deeds.)
Pickthal : And attentive to her Lord in fear!
Yusuf Ali : And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord--and it must needs (do so)--(then will come Home the full Reality).
Verse:006Abdul Daryabadi : O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him.
Dr. Mohsin : O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, and you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O man, you have to work hard constantly to reach your Lord, and then you have to meet Him.
Pickthal : Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence).
Yusuf Ali : O thou man! verily thou art ever toiling on towards the Lord― painfully toiling but thou shalt meet Him.
Verse:007Abdul Daryabadi : Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand
Dr. Mohsin : Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, as for him whose book (of deeds) will be given to him in his right hand,
Pickthal : Then whoso is given his account in his right hand
Yusuf Ali : Then he who is given his Record in his Right hand,
Verse:008Abdul Daryabadi : His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning.
Dr. Mohsin : He surely will receive an easy reckoning,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He will be called to account in an easy manner,
Pickthal : He truly will receive an easy reckoning
Yusuf Ali : Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,
Verse:009Abdul Daryabadi : And he shall return Unto his people joyfully.
Dr. Mohsin : And will return to his family in joy!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And he will go back to his people joyfully.
Pickthal : And will return unto his folk in joy.
Yusuf Ali : And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!
Verse:010Abdul Daryabadi : And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back
Dr. Mohsin : But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : As for the one whose book (of deeds) will be given to him from his backside, [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : But whoso is given his account behind his back,
Yusuf Ali : But he who is given his Record behind his back―
Verse:011Abdul Daryabadi : He shall presently call for death,
Dr. Mohsin : He will invoke (for his) destruction,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He will pray for death,
Pickthal : He surely will invoke destruction
Yusuf Ali : Soon will he cry for Perdition,
Verse:012Abdul Daryabadi : And he shall roast into a Blaze.
Dr. Mohsin : And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and be made to taste its burning.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And will enter the blazing fire.
Pickthal : And be thrown to scorching fire.
Yusuf Ali : And he will enter a Blazing Fire.
Verse:013Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he was among his people joyous.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he was among his people in joy!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He had been joyful among his people (in the world).
Pickthal : He verily lived joyous with his folk,
Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!
Verse:014Abdul Daryabadi : Verily he imagined that he would not be back.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He thought he would never revert (to Allah).
Pickthal : He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah).
Yusuf Ali : Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!
Verse:015Abdul Daryabadi : Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him.
Dr. Mohsin : Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! Indeed his Lord was watchful over him.
Pickthal : Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him!
Yusuf Ali : Nay nay! For his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!
Verse:016Abdul Daryabadi : I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
Dr. Mohsin : So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, I swear by the twilight (after sunset),
Pickthal : Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset,
Yusuf Ali : So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;
Verse:017Abdul Daryabadi : And by the night and that which it driveth together,
Dr. Mohsin : And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by the night and what it envelops,
Pickthal : And by the night and all that it enshroudeth,
Yusuf Ali : The Night and its Homing;
Verse:018Abdul Daryabadi : And by the moon when she becometh full.
Dr. Mohsin : And by the moon when it is at the full,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by the moon when it develops at the full,
Pickthal : And by the moon when she is at the full,
Yusuf Ali : And the Moon in her Fullness;
Verse:019Abdul Daryabadi : Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer.
Dr. Mohsin : You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : You shall certainly ascend from stage to stage. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : That ye shall journey on from plane to plane.
Yusuf Ali : Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.
Verse:020Abdul Daryabadi : What aileth them then, that they believe not,
Dr. Mohsin : What is the matter with them, that they believe not?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, what is wrong with them that they do not believe,
Pickthal : What aileth them, then, that they believe not
Yusuf Ali : What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?―
Verse:021Abdul Daryabadi : And that, when the Quran is read Unto them, they prostrate not them-selves!
Dr. Mohsin : And when the Qur'ân is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not offer sajdah (prostration)? [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)?
Yusuf Ali : And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,
Verse:022Abdul Daryabadi : Yea those who disbelieve belie.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay, those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Qur'ân and Islâmic Monotheism, etc.).[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Rather, those who disbelieve deny (the truth).
Pickthal : Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny;
Yusuf Ali : But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).
Verse:023Abdul Daryabadi : Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish.
Dr. Mohsin : And Allâh knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And Allah is most aware of what they store. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding.
Yusuf Ali : But Allah has full Knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts).
Verse:024Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore announce thou Unto them a torment afflictive.
Dr. Mohsin : So announce to them a painful torment.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, give him the ‘good news’ of a painful punishment,
Pickthal : So give them tidings of a painful doom,
Yusuf Ali : So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,
Verse:025Abdul Daryabadi : But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending.
Dr. Mohsin : Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But those who believed and did righteous deeds will have a reward that will never be interrupted. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing.
Yusuf Ali : Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: for them is a Reward that will never fail.
