Verse:001
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe Unto the scrimpers:
Dr. Mohsin : Woe to Al-Mutaffifun (those who give less in measure and weight).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe to the curtailers
Pickthal : Woe unto the defrauders:
Yusuf Ali : Woe to those that deal in fraud―


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full,
Dr. Mohsin : Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who, when they measure something to receive from people, take it in full,
Pickthal : Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full,
Yusuf Ali : Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure.


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : And who, when they measure Unto them or weigh for them, diminish.
Dr. Mohsin : And when they have to give by measure or weight to (other) men, give less than due.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when they measure or weigh something to give it to them, give less than due. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss.
Yusuf Ali : But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up?
Dr. Mohsin : Do they not think that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Do they not think that they have to be raised up
Pickthal : Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again
Yusuf Ali : Do they not think that they will be called to account?―


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : On a mighty Day.
Dr. Mohsin : On a Great Day,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : On a Great Day,
Pickthal : Unto an awful Day,
Yusuf Ali : On a Mighty, Day,


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds?
Dr. Mohsin : The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The Day when all the people will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
Pickthal : The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
Yusuf Ali : A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjâr (disbelievers, polytheists sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjîn.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Never! (i.e. they should never act in such a way.) Indeed the record of deeds of the sinners is in Sijjin . [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin -
Yusuf Ali : Nay! Surely the Record of the Wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is?
Dr. Mohsin : And what will make you know what Sijjîn is?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And what may let you know what Sijjin is?
Pickthal : Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! -
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?


Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : A record of misdeeds written.
Dr. Mohsin : A Register inscribed.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : A register, inscribed! [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : A written record.
Yusuf Ali : (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.


Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that Day unto the belviers-
Dr. Mohsin : Woe, that Day, to those who deny.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that day to the deniers,
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Woe, that Day, to those that deny―


Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : Those who belie the Day of Requital.
Dr. Mohsin : Those who deny the Day of Recompense.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who deny the Day of Requital!
Pickthal : Those who deny the Day of Judgment
Yusuf Ali : Those that deny the Day of Judgment.


Verse:012
Abdul Daryabadi : And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner.
Dr. Mohsin : And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience to Allâh), the sinner!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And none denies it but every sinful transgressor.
Pickthal : Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor,
Yusuf Ali : And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!


Verse:013
Abdul Daryabadi : And when Our revelations are rehearsed Unto him, she saith:fables of the ancients!
Dr. Mohsin : When Our Verses (of the Qur'ân) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : When Our verses are recited to him, he says, “(These are) tales of the ancients.”
Pickthal : Who, when Our revelations are recited unto him, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old.
Yusuf Ali : When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says "Tales of the Ancients!"


Verse:014
Abdul Daryabadi : By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! But on their hearts is the Rân (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! But that which they used to commit has covered their hearts with rust.
Pickthal : Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts.
Yusuf Ali : By no means! But on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!


Verse:015
Abdul Daryabadi : By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut Out.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! Indeed they will be screened off from their Lord on that Day.
Pickthal : Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord.
Yusuf Ali : Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.


Verse:016
Abdul Daryabadi : Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, verily they will indeed enter (and taste) the burning flame of Hell.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then they will have to enter the Hell.
Pickthal : Then lo! they verily will burn in hell,
Yusuf Ali : Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell.


Verse:017
Abdul Daryabadi : Then it will be said: this is that which ye were wont to belie.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then it will be said, “This is what you used to deny.”
Pickthal : And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny.
Yusuf Ali : Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false!"


Verse:018
Abdul Daryabadi : By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in Illiyun.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrâr (the pious and righteous), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyûn.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No! The record of deeds of the righteous is in ‘Illiyyun . [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin -
Yusuf Ali : Nay, verily the Record of the Righteous is (preserved) in `Illiyin.


Verse:019
Abdul Daryabadi : And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is?
Dr. Mohsin : And what will make you know what 'Illiyyûn is?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And what may let you know what ‘Illiyyun is ?
Pickthal : Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! -
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee whet `Illiyun is?


Verse:020
Abdul Daryabadi : A record of good deeds written.
Dr. Mohsin : A Register inscribed.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : A register inscribed,
Pickthal : A written record,
Yusuf Ali : (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.


Verse:021
Abdul Daryabadi : To which bear witness those brought nigh.
Dr. Mohsin : To which bear witness those nearest (to Allâh, i.e. the angels).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Attended by those (angels) who are blessed with nearness to Allah!
Pickthal : Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord).
Yusuf Ali : To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah).


Verse:022
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight,
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, Al-Abrâr (the pious who fear Allâh and avoid evil) will be in Delight (Paradise).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Indeed the righteous will be in absolute bliss.
Pickthal : Lo! the righteous verily are in delight,
Yusuf Ali : Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss:


Verse:023
Abdul Daryabadi : Reclining on couches, looking on.
Dr. Mohsin : On thrones, looking (at all things).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : While (sitting) on thrones they will be watching (the scenes of Paradise).
Pickthal : On couches, gazing,
Yusuf Ali : On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things):


Verse:024
Abdul Daryabadi : Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight.
Dr. Mohsin : You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : You will recognize the glamour of bliss on their faces.
Pickthal : Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight.
Yusuf Ali : Thou wilt recognise in their Faces the beaming brightness of Bliss.


Verse:025
Abdul Daryabadi : They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed.
Dr. Mohsin : They will be given to drink of pure sealed wine.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will be served with a pure sealed wine to drink,
Pickthal : They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed,
Yusuf Ali : Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed:


Verse:026
Abdul Daryabadi : The seal thereof will be of musk and to this end let the aspirers aspire
Dr. Mohsin : The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of Musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allâh).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The seal of which will be of musk.___It is this (bliss) in aspiring for which the competitors should race each other.
Pickthal : Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss -
Yusuf Ali : The seal thereof will be musk: and for this let those aspire, who have aspirations:


Verse:027
Abdul Daryabadi : And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim:
Dr. Mohsin : It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnîm.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And it will be blended with (a drink from) Tasnim ,
Pickthal : And mixed with water of Tasnim,
Yusuf Ali : With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim:


Verse:028
Abdul Daryabadi : A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh.
Dr. Mohsin : A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allâh.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : A spring from which will drink those who are blessed with nearness.
Pickthal : A spring whence those brought near to Allah drink.
Yusuf Ali : A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah.


Verse:029
Abdul Daryabadi : Veriiy those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh,
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, (during the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Indeed those who were guilty used to laugh at those who believed,
Pickthal : Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed,
Yusuf Ali : Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed,


Verse:030
Abdul Daryabadi : And, when they passed them, to wink at each other
Dr. Mohsin : And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when they passed by them, they used to wink at one another,
Pickthal : And wink one to another when they passed them;
Yusuf Ali : And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery);


Verse:031
Abdul Daryabadi : And when they returned to their household they returned jesting.
Dr. Mohsin : And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when they went back to their family, they went enjoying their mockery,
Pickthal : And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting;
Yusuf Ali : And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;


Verse:032
Abdul Daryabadi : And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones.
Dr. Mohsin : And when they saw them, they said: "Verily, these have indeed gone astray!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when they saw them, they said, “Surely these are the ones who have gone astray”
Pickthal : And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray.
Yusuf Ali : And whenever they saw them, they would say "Behold! these are the people truly, astray!"


Verse:033
Abdul Daryabadi : Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers.
Dr. Mohsin : But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : While they were not sent as watchmen over them.
Pickthal : Yet they were not sent as guardians over them.
Yusuf Ali : But they had not been sent as Keepers over them!


Verse:034
Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing,
Dr. Mohsin : But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, today those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers.
Pickthal : This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers,
Yusuf Ali : But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers.


Verse:035
Abdul Daryabadi : Reclining on couches, looking on.
Dr. Mohsin : On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : While (sitting) on thrones, they will be seeing
Pickthal : On high couches, gazing.
Yusuf Ali : On Thrones (of Dignity) They will command (a sight) (of all things).


Verse:036
Abdul Daryabadi : The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing.
Dr. Mohsin : Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Whether the disbelievers have been paid back for what they used to do.
Pickthal : Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do?
Yusuf Ali : Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did?
