Verse:001
Abdul Daryabadi : By the winds sent forth with beneficence.
Dr. Mohsin : By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allâh) sent forth one after another.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : I swear) by those (winds) that are sent one after the other,
Pickthal : By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another
Yusuf Ali : By the (Winds) Sent Forth one after another (to man's profit);


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : And those raging swiftly;
Dr. Mohsin : And by the winds that blow violently,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by those that blow violently,
Pickthal : By the raging hurricanes,
Yusuf Ali : Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts,


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : By the spreading winds spreading.
Dr. Mohsin : And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by those that spread (clouds) all over,
Pickthal : By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive;
Yusuf Ali : And scatter (things) far and wide;


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : And the scattering wind scattering.
Dr. Mohsin : And by the Verses (of the Qur'ân) that separate the right from the wrong.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by those (angels) who differentiate (between right and wrong) distinctly,
Pickthal : By those who winnow with a winnowing,
Yusuf Ali : Then separate them, one from another,


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : And those winds that bring down the remembrance.
Dr. Mohsin : And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then bring down the advice,
Pickthal : By those who bring down the Reminder,
Yusuf Ali : Then spread abroad a Message,


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : By way of excuse or warning.
Dr. Mohsin : To cut off all excuses or to warn;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Leaving no excuse (for the disbelievers) or giving warnings,
Pickthal : To excuse or to warn,
Yusuf Ali : Whether of Justification or of Warning―


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall.
Dr. Mohsin : Surely, what you are promised must come to pass.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : That which you are promised is sure to happen. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Surely that which ye are promised will befall.
Yusuf Ali : Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass.


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : So when stars are effaced.
Dr. Mohsin : Then when the stars lose their lights;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, when the stars will be extinguished,
Pickthal : So when the stars are put out,
Yusuf Ali : Then when the stars become dim;


Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : And when the heaven is cloven asunder.
Dr. Mohsin : And when the heaven is cleft asunder;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when the sky will be split,
Pickthal : And when the sky is riven asunder,
Yusuf Ali : When the heaven is cleft asunder;


Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : And when the mountains are carried away by wind.
Dr. Mohsin : And when the mountains are blown away;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when the mountains will be blown away as dust,
Pickthal : And when the mountains are blown away,
Yusuf Ali : When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust;


Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time,
Dr. Mohsin : And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when the messengers will be assembled at the appointed time, (then all matters will be decided.)
Pickthal : And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed -
Yusuf Ali : And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect)―


Verse:012
Abdul Daryabadi : For what day is it timed?
Dr. Mohsin : For what Day are these signs postponed?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Do you know) for which day has all this been delayed?
Pickthal : For what day is the time appointed?
Yusuf Ali : For what Day are these (Portents) deferred?


Verse:013
Abdul Daryabadi : For the Day of Decision.
Dr. Mohsin : For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : For the Day of Decision!
Pickthal : For the Day of Decision.
Yusuf Ali : For the Day of Sorting out.


Verse:014
Abdul Daryabadi : And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is?
Dr. Mohsin : And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And what may let you know what the Day of Decision is?
Pickthal : And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! -
Yusuf Ali : And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out?


Verse:015
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:016
Abdul Daryabadi : Destroyed We not the ancients?
Dr. Mohsin : Did We not destroy the ancients?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Did We not destroy the earlier people?
Pickthal : Destroyed We not the former folk,
Yusuf Ali : Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)?


Verse:017
Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones.
Dr. Mohsin : So shall We make later generations to follow them.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then We will cause the later ones to follow them.
Pickthal : Then caused the latter folk to follow after?
Yusuf Ali : So shall We make later (generations) follow them.


Verse:018
Abdul Daryabadi : In this wise We do with the culprits.
Dr. Mohsin : Thus do We deal with the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thus We deal with the guilty people.
Pickthal : Thus deal We ever with the guilty.
Yusuf Ali : Thus do We deal with men of sin.


Verse:019
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:020
Abdul Daryabadi : Created We you not of water despicable,
Dr. Mohsin : Did We not create you from a despised water (semen)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Did We not create you from a worthless fluid? [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Did We not create you from a base fluid
Yusuf Ali : Have We not created you from a fluid (held) despicable?


Verse:021
Abdul Daryabadi : Which We placed in a depository safe.
Dr. Mohsin : Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then We put it in a firm place of rest
Pickthal : Which We laid up in a safe abode
Yusuf Ali : The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed.


Verse:022
Abdul Daryabadi : Till a limit known?
Dr. Mohsin : For a known period (determined by gestation)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : For a known period.[QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : For a known term?
Yusuf Ali : For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)?


Verse:023
Abdul Daryabadi : So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers!
Dr. Mohsin : So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thus We did (all this with perfect) measure; so We are the best to measure.
Pickthal : Thus We determined (things). How excellent is Our determining!
Yusuf Ali : For We do determine (according to need); for We are the Best to determine (things)!


Verse:024
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:025
Abdul Daryabadi : Have We not made the earth a receptacle.
Dr. Mohsin : Have We not made the earth a receptacle?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Did We not make the earth a container that collects
Pickthal : Have We not made the earth a receptacle
Yusuf Ali : Have We not made the earth (as a place) to draw together


Verse:026
Abdul Daryabadi : Both for the living and the dead,
Dr. Mohsin : For the living and the dead?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The living and the dead?
Pickthal : Both for the living and the dead,
Yusuf Ali : The living and the dead,


Verse:027
Abdul Daryabadi : And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh
Dr. Mohsin : And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We placed towering mountains therein, and provided you with sweet water to drink.
Pickthal : And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein?
Yusuf Ali : And made therein mountains standing firm, lofty (in stature); and provided for you water sweet (and wholesome)?


Verse:028
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:029
Abdul Daryabadi : Depart Unto that which ye were wont to belie.
Dr. Mohsin : (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It will be said to them on that day, Push on to what you used to deny.
Pickthal : (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny;
Yusuf Ali : (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false!


Verse:030
Abdul Daryabadi : Depart Unto the shadow three branched:
Dr. Mohsin : "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Push on to a canopy (of Hell’s smoke) having three branches,
Pickthal : Depart unto the shadow falling threefold,
Yusuf Ali : "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns,


Verse:031
Abdul Daryabadi : Neither shading nor availing against the flame.
Dr. Mohsin : "Neither shady, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : That neither has a comfortable shade, nor is it of any use against the scorching heat.
Pickthal : (Which yet is) no relief nor shelter from the flame.
Yusuf Ali : "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze.


Verse:032
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily it shall cast forth sparks like Unto a castle.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a (huge log of wood)],
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It emits sparks (as huge) as castles,
Pickthal : Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles,
Yusuf Ali : "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts,


Verse:033
Abdul Daryabadi : As though they were camels yellow tawny.
Dr. Mohsin : As if they were yellow camels or bundles of ropes.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : As if they were yellowish camels.”
Pickthal : (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue.
Yusuf Ali : "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)."


Verse:034
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:035
Abdul Daryabadi : This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak.
Dr. Mohsin : That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : This is the day when they will not speak,
Pickthal : This is a day wherein they speak not,
Yusuf Ali : That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak,


Verse:036
Abdul Daryabadi : Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves.
Dr. Mohsin : And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Nor will they be allowed to offer excuses.
Pickthal : Nor are they suffered to put forth excuses.
Yusuf Ali : Nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas.


Verse:037
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:038
Abdul Daryabadi : This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients.
Dr. Mohsin : That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It will be said to them,) “This is the Day of Decision. We have assembled you and the earlier ones together.
Pickthal : This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together.
Yusuf Ali : That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall Gather you together and those before (you)!


Verse:039
Abdul Daryabadi : If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me.
Dr. Mohsin : So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allâh swt )!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Now, if you have a trick, use the trick against Me.”
Pickthal : If now ye have any wit, outwit Me.
Yusuf Ali : Now, if ye have a trick (or plot) use it against Me!


Verse:040
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on the day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:041
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the God-fearing shall be amid shades and springs,
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2) shall be amidst shades and springs.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Of course, the God-fearing will be amid shades and streams,
Pickthal : Lo! those who kept their duty are amid shade and fountains,
Yusuf Ali : As to the Righteous, they shall be amidst (cool) shades and springs (of water).


Verse:042
Abdul Daryabadi : And fruits such as they shall desire.
Dr. Mohsin : And fruits, such as they desire.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And fruits of their desire.
Pickthal : And fruits such as they desire.
Yusuf Ali : And (they shall have) fruits― all they desire.


Verse:043
Abdul Daryabadi : Eat and drink with relish that which ye have been working.
Dr. Mohsin : "Eat and drink comfortably for that which you used to do.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It will be said to them, “Eat and drink with pleasure because of what you used to do.”
Pickthal : (Unto them it is said:) Eat, drink and welcome, O ye blessed, in return for what ye did.
Yusuf Ali : "Eat ye and drink ye to your heart's content: for that ye worked (Righteousness)."


Verse:044
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily We! in this wise We recompense the well-doers.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers see V.2:112)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : This is how We reward those who do good deeds.
Pickthal : Thus do We reward the good.
Yusuf Ali : Thus do We certainly reward the Doers of Good.


Verse:045
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:046
Abdul Daryabadi : Eat and enjoy a little; verily ye are culprits.
Dr. Mohsin : (O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O disbelievers, eat and drink for a while! You are guilty ones.”
Pickthal : Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.
Yusuf Ali : (O ye Unjust!) eat ye and enjoy yourselves (but) a little while, for that ye are Sinners.


Verse:047
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth!


Verse:048
Abdul Daryabadi : And when it is said Unto them: bow down, they bow not down.
Dr. Mohsin : And when it is said to them: "Bow down yourself (in prayer)!" They bow not down (offer not their prayers)[].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when it is said to them, “Bow down (i.e. submit to Allah’s commands)”, they do not bow down.
Pickthal : When it is said unto them: Bow down, they bow not down!
Yusuf Ali : And when it is said to them "Prostrate yourselves!" They do not so.


Verse:049
Abdul Daryabadi : Woe on that day Unto the beliers!
Dr. Mohsin : Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Woe that Day to the deniers!
Pickthal : Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusuf Ali : Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of truth!


Verse:050
Abdul Daryabadi : In what discourse, then, after it, will they believe?
Dr. Mohsin : Then in what statement after this (the Qur'ân) will they believe?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Now, in which discourse, after this, will they believe?
Pickthal : In what statement, after this, will they believe?
Yusuf Ali : Then what Message, after that will they believe in?
