Abdul Daryabadi : Blissful are the believers-
Dr. Mohsin : Successful indeed are the believers.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Success is really attained by the believers
Pickthal : Successful indeed are the believers
Yusuf Ali : The Believers must (eventually) win through


Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : Those who in their prayer are lowly.
Dr. Mohsin : Those who offer their Salât (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who concentrate their attention in humbleness when offering Salah (prayers)
Pickthal : Who are humble in their prayers,
Yusuf Ali : Those who humble themselves in their prayers;


Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who from everything vain turn away.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allâh has forbidden).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And who keep themselves away from vain things,
Pickthal : And who shun vain conversation,
Yusuf Ali : Who avoid vain talk;


Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who for the sake of purification are doers.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who pay the Zakât.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And who are performers of Zakah , [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And who are payers of the poor-due;
Yusuf Ali : Who are active in deeds of charity;


Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who of their private Parts are guards.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And who guard their private parts
Pickthal : And who guard their modesty -
Yusuf Ali : Who abstain from sex,


Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : Save in regard to their spouses and those whom their right hands own: so they are not blameworthy-
Dr. Mohsin : Except from their wives or (slaves) that their right hands possess, - for then, they are free from blame;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Except from their wives or from those (bondwomen who are) owned by their hands, as they are not to be blamed.
Pickthal : Save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy,
Yusuf Ali : Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess― for (in their case) they are free from blame,


Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : And Whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is these who are the transgressors
Dr. Mohsin : But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : However, those who seek (sexual pleasure) beyond that are the transgressors
Pickthal : But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors -
Yusuf Ali : But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors―


Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who of their trusts and covenant are keepers.
Dr. Mohsin : Those who are faithfully true to their Amanât (all the duties which Allâh has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts)[] and to their covenants;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And (success is attained) by those who honestly look after their trusts and covenant,
Pickthal : And who are keepers of their pledge and their covenant,
Yusuf Ali : Those who faithfully observe their Trusts and their covenants;


Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who of their prayers are observant.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawât (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours).[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And who consistently observe their prayers.
Pickthal : And who pay heed to their prayers.
Yusuf Ali : And who (strictly) guard their prayers


Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : These! they are the inheritors.
Dr. Mohsin : These are indeed the inheritors.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Those are the inheritors
Pickthal : These are the heirs
Yusuf Ali : Those will be the heirs


Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders.
Dr. Mohsin : Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who will inherit Firdaus (the Paradise). They will be there forever.
Pickthal : Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide.
Yusuf Ali : Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (forever).


Verse:012
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We created man of an extract of clay.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We have created man from an extract of clay. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Verily We created man from a product of wet earth;
Yusuf Ali : Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);


Verse:013
Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter We made him of a Sperm In a receptacle safe.
Dr. Mohsin : Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then We made him a sperm-drop in a firm resting place.
Pickthal : Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging;
Yusuf Ali : Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest firmly fixed;


Verse:014
Abdul Daryabadi : -Thereafter We created the sperm a clot; then We created the clot a lump of flesh; then We created the lump of flesh bones; then We clothed the bones with flesh: thereafter We brought him forth as anot her creature. Blest then be Allah, the Best of creators!
Dr. Mohsin : Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So Blessed is Allâh, the Best of creators.[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then We turned the sperm-drop into a clot, then We turned the clot into a fetus-lump, then We turned the fetus-lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh; thereafter We developed it into another creature. So, glorious is Allah, the Best of the creators.
Pickthal : Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators!
Yusuf Ali : Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then We made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed out of it another creature: so blessed be Allah, the Best to create!


Verse:015
Abdul Daryabadi : Then verily, thereafter, ye are sure to die.
Dr. Mohsin : After that, surely, you will die.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, after all this, you are to die.
Pickthal : Then lo! after that ye surely die.
Yusuf Ali : After that at length ye will die.


Verse:016
Abdul Daryabadi : Then verily on the Day of Judgment ye shall be raised up.
Dr. Mohsin : Then (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then you are to be raised again on the Day of Judgment.
Pickthal : Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again).
Yusuf Ali : Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up.


Verse:017
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We created above you seven paths (heavens), and We were never neglectful of the creation.
Pickthal : And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation.
Yusuf Ali : And We have made, above you seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (Our) Creation.


Verse:018
Abdul Daryabadi : And We sent down from the heaven water in measure, and We caused it to settle in the earth; and verily to take it away We are Able.
Dr. Mohsin : And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We sent down water from the sky in due measure, then We lodged it in the earth, and of course, We are able to take it away.
Pickthal : And we send down from the sky water in measure, and We give it settle in the earth, and lo! We are Able to withdraw it.
Yusuf Ali : And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease).


Verse:019
Abdul Daryabadi : Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palm and vines; for you therein are fruits many, and thereof ye eat.
Dr. Mohsin : Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then We produced with it gardens of date-palms and vines for your benefit. For you there are many fruits in them, and of them you eat
Pickthal : Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat;
Yusuf Ali : With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment)―


Verse:020
Abdul Daryabadi : And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters.
Dr. Mohsin : And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows (produces) oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And (We produced) a tree (of olive) that comes forth from the (mount) Tur of Sinai, which grows with oil and with a dressing for those who eat.
Pickthal : And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters.
Yusuf Ali : Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food.


Verse:021
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat.
Dr. Mohsin : And Verily! In the cattle there is indeed a lesson for you. We give you to drink (milk) of that which is in their bellies. And there are, in them, numerous (other) benefits for you, and of them you eat.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And indeed there is a sure lesson in the cattle for you. We give you a drink from that which lies in their bellies, and for you there are many benefits in them, and of them you eat,
Pickthal : And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat;
Yusuf Ali : And in cattle (too) ye have an instructive example: from within their bodies We produce (milk) for you to drink; there are, in them (besides) numerous (other) benefits for you; and of their (meat) ye eat;


Verse:022
Abdul Daryabadi : And on them and on the ship ye are borne.
Dr. Mohsin : And on them, and on ships you are carried.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And on them and on the boats you are transported.
Pickthal : And on them and on the ship ye are carried.
Yusuf Ali : And on them, as well as in ships ye ride.


Verse:023
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We sent Nuh unto his people, and he said: O my people! worship Allah; for you there is no god but he; will ye not then fear Him!
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We sent Nûh (Noah) to his people, and he said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him (Islâmic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely, We sent Nuh to his nation. So he said, “My people, worship Allah. You have no god whatsoever other than Him. So, do you not fear Allah?”
Pickthal : And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other god save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)?
Yusuf Ali : (Further We sent a long line of prophets for your instruction.). We sent Noah to his people: he said "O my people! worship Allah! Ye have no other god but Him: will ye not fear (Him)?"


Verse:024
Abdul Daryabadi : Then said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people: this is no other than a human being like unto you, he seeketh to make himself superior unto; and if God had willed, He would save sent down angels; we have not heard of this among our fathers ancient.
Dr. Mohsin : But the chiefs of his people who disbelieved said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allâh willed, He surely could have sent down angels; Never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, said the disbelieving chiefs from among his nation, “This (man) is nothing but a human being like you. He wishes to impose his superiority over you. Had Allah willed, He would have sent down angels (instead of him). We have not heard of such a thing among our forefathers.
Pickthal : But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old.
Yusuf Ali : The chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: his wish is to assert his superiority over you: if Allah had wished (to send messengers), He could have sent down angels: never did we hear such a thing (as he says), among our ancestors of old."


Verse:025
Abdul Daryabadi : He is only a man in whom is madness wherefore await for him for a season.
Dr. Mohsin : "He is only a man in whom is madness, so wait for him a while."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is none but a man suffering from madness; so wait for (what happens to) him until some time”
Pickthal : He is only a man in whom is a madness, so watch him for a while.
Yusuf Ali : (And some said:) "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time."


Verse:026
Abdul Daryabadi : Nuh said: my Lord! vindicate me, for they belie me
Dr. Mohsin : [Nûh (Noah)] said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He said, “My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me.”
Pickthal : He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me.
Yusuf Ali : (Noah) said: "O my Lord! Help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood!"


Verse:027
Abdul Daryabadi : Then We revealed unto him, saying: build the ark under Our eyes and Our Revelation; then when Our command cometh and the oven boileth over, make way therein of every pair two, and thy household save him thereof against whom there hath already gone forth the word; and address me not in respect of those who have done wrong; verily they are to be drowned.
Dr. Mohsin : So We revealed to him (saying): "Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation (guidance). Then, when Our Command comes, and water gushes forth from the oven, take on board of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except those thereof against whom the Word has already gone forth. And address Me not in favour of those who have done wrong. Verily, they are to be drowned.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, We sent Our revelation to him, saying, “Make the ship under Our eyes and Our revelation. So, when Our command will come, and the oven will gush forth, take on its board a pair of two from each (species) along with your family, except those of them against whom the word has already come to pass. And do not speak to Me (in favor) of those who have done wrong. They are sure to be drowned. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Then We inspired in him, saying: Make the ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration. Then, when Our command cometh and the oven gusheth water, introduce therein of every (kind) two spouses, and thy household save him thereof against whom the Word hath already gone forth. And plead not with Me on behalf of those who have done wrong. Lo! they will be drowned.
Yusuf Ali : So We inspired him (with this message): "Construct the Ark within Our sight and under Our guidance: then when comes Our command and the fountains of the earth gush forth, take thou on board pairs of every species, male and female, and thy family― except those of them against whom the Word has already gone forth: and address Me not in favour of the wrongdoers; for they shall be drowned (in the Flood).


Verse:028
Abdul Daryabadi : And when thou art settled, thou and those with thee, in the ark, say thou: praise unto Allah who hath delivered us from the wrong doing people.
Dr. Mohsin : And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you, then say: "All the praises and thanks are to Allâh, Who has saved us from the people who are Zâlimûn (i.e. oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allâh).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, when you and those with you are well seated in the ship, say, ‘Praise is for Allah who saved us from the wrongdoing people.’
Pickthal : And when thou art on board the ship, thou and whoso is with thee, then say: Praise be to Allah Who hath saved us from the wrongdoing folk!
Yusuf Ali : And when thou hast embarked on the Ark thou and those with thee― say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong."


Verse:029
Abdul Daryabadi : And say thou, my Lord! cause me to land at a landing blest, and thou art the Best of these who bring to land.
Dr. Mohsin : And say: "My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the Best of those who bring to land."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And say, ‘My Lord, make me land a blessed landing, and You are the best of those who bring (someone) to land’”.
Pickthal : And say: My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for Thou art best of all who bring to land.
Yusuf Ali : And say: "O my Lord! Enable me to disembark with Thy blessing: for Thou art the Best to enable (us) to disembark."


Verse:030
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily in that are signs; verily We have ever been provers.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, in this [what We did as regards drowning of the people of Nûh (Noah)], there are indeed Ayât (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc. for men to understand), for sure We are ever putting (men) to the test
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely, there are signs in it, and We do always test (people).
Pickthal : Lo! herein verily are portents, for lo! We are ever putting (mankind) to the test.
Yusuf Ali : Verily in this there are Signs (for men to understand); (thus) do We try (men).


Verse:031
Abdul Daryabadi : Then, after them We brought forth anot her generation.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, after them, We created another generation
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then after them We created another generation,
Pickthal : Then, after them, We brought forth another generation;
Yusuf Ali : Then We raised after them another generation;


Verse:032
Abdul Daryabadi : Then We sent amongst them an apostle from amongst themselves, saying: worship Allah, for you there is no god but he; will ye then not fear Him?
Dr. Mohsin : And We sent to them a Messenger from among themselves (saying): "Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him. Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And sent among them a messenger from themselves (to convey the message): “Worship Allah; you have no god whatsoever other than Him. So do you not fear Allah?”
Pickthal : And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other god save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)?
Yusuf Ali : And We sent to them an messenger from among themselves, (saying) "Worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. Will ye not fear (Him)?"


Verse:033
Abdul Daryabadi : And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the World: this is no other than a human being like unto you: he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink.
Dr. Mohsin : And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then said the chiefs of his nation who were disbelievers and who denied facing the Hereafter and whom We made affluent in the worldly life, “This (man) is nothing but a human being. He eats from what you eat from, and drinks from what you drink.
Pickthal : And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink.
Yusuf Ali : And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves; he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink.


Verse:034
Abdul Daryabadi : And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers.
Dr. Mohsin : "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be losers.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : If you obey a human like yourselves, then you will be absolute losers.
Pickthal : If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers.
Yusuf Ali : "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold it is certain ye will be lost.


Verse:035
Abdul Daryabadi : Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth?
Dr. Mohsin : "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Does he promise you that, when you die and are turned into dust and bones, you are to be brought forth?
Pickthal : Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth?
Yusuf Ali : "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)?


Verse:036
Abdul Daryabadi : Away! away with that wherewith ye are promised;
Dr. Mohsin : "Far, very far is that which you are promised!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Far too improbable is what you are being promised.
Pickthal : Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised!
Yusuf Ali : "Far, very far is that which ye are promised!


Verse:037
Abdul Daryabadi : There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised Up.
Dr. Mohsin : "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : There is nothing but our worldly life. We die and we live, and we are not to be raised again.
Pickthal : There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again).
Yusuf Ali : "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again!


Verse:038
Abdul Daryabadi : He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers.
Dr. Mohsin : "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allâh, and we are not going to believe in him."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is nothing but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him.”
Pickthal : He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him.
Yusuf Ali : "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!"


Verse:039
Abdul Daryabadi : He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me.
Dr. Mohsin : He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He said, “My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me.”
Pickthal : He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me.
Yusuf Ali : (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! Help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood."


Verse:040
Abdul Daryabadi : Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful.
Dr. Mohsin : (Allâh) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He (Allah) said, “In a little while they will have to be remorseful.”
Pickthal : He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant.
Yusuf Ali : (Allah) said: "In but a little while they are sure to be sorry!"


Verse:041
Abdul Daryabadi : Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people!
Dr. Mohsin : So As-Saîhah (torment - awful cry) overtook them in truth (with justice), and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, disobedient to His Messengers).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So the Cry seized them according to the true (promise), and We turned them in to scum. So, away with the wrongdoing people.
Pickthal : So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk!
Yusuf Ali : Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong!


Verse:042
Abdul Daryabadi : Then after them We brought forth other generations.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, after them, We created other generations.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, after them, We created another generation.
Pickthal : Then after them We brought forth other generations.
Yusuf Ali : Then We raised after them other generations.


Verse:043
Abdul Daryabadi : No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind.
Dr. Mohsin : No nation can advance their term, nor can they delay it.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : No community can go ahead of its appointed time, nor can they become late.
Pickthal : No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it.
Yusuf Ali : No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it).


Verse:044
Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one anot her, and We made them bywords: so away with a people who believe not!
Dr. Mohsin : Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, Every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadîth (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thereafter, We sent Our messengers successively. Whenever its messenger came to a community, they rejected him. Then We made some of them follow others (in destruction) and turned them into tales (of history). So, away with a people who do not believe.
Pickthal : Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not!
Yusuf Ali : Then sent We Our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): so away with a people that will not believe!


Verse:045
Abdul Daryabadi : Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest.
Dr. Mohsin : Then We sent Mûsa (Moses) and his brother Hârûn (Aaron), with Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thereafter, We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and a clear proof
Pickthal : Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant
Yusuf Ali : Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest


Verse:046
Abdul Daryabadi : Unto Firawn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting.
Dr. Mohsin : To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allâh).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Towards Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) and his advisors. But they showed arrogance and they were haughty people.
Pickthal : Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk.
Yusuf Ali : To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: but these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people.


Verse:047
Abdul Daryabadi : So they said: shall we believe In two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves?
Dr. Mohsin : They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So they said, “shall we believe in two humans who are like ourselves and whose people are serving us as slaves?”
Pickthal : And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us?
Yusuf Ali : They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!"


Verse:048
Abdul Daryabadi : Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed.
Dr. Mohsin : So they denied them both [Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thus they rejected both of them and were among the destroyed.
Pickthal : So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed.
Yusuf Ali : So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed.


Verse:049
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We gave Mûsa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And, of course, We gave Musa the Book, so that they may take the right path.
Pickthal : And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright.
Yusuf Ali : And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance.


Verse:050
Abdul Daryabadi : And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water.
Dr. Mohsin : And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on a height, having a place of rest and running springs. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings.
Yusuf Ali : And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs.


Verse:051
Abdul Daryabadi : O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower.
Dr. Mohsin : O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyyibât [all kinds of Halâl (lawful) foods (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O messengers, eat from the good things, and act righteously. Of whatever you do, I am fully aware.
Pickthal : O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do.
Yusuf Ali : O ye messengers! Enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do.


Verse:052
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.
Dr. Mohsin : And verily! this your religion (of Islâmic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely, this is your creed, a single creed, and I am your Lord. So fear Me.
Pickthal : And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me.
Yusuf Ali : And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other).


Verse:053
Abdul Daryabadi : Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures: each band in that which is with them rejoicing.
Dr. Mohsin : But they (men) have broken their religion among them into sects[], each group rejoicing in what is with it (as its belief).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But they split up ways from one another (dividing themselves) into factions, each faction happy with what lies before it.
Pickthal : But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each sect rejoicing in its tenets.
Yusuf Ali : But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself.


Verse:054
Abdul Daryabadi : Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season.
Dr. Mohsin : So leave them in their error for a time.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So leave them in their negligence for some time.
Pickthal : So leave them in their error till a time.
Yusuf Ali : But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time.


Verse:055
Abdul Daryabadi : Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them.
Dr. Mohsin : Do they think that in wealth and children with which We enlarge them
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Do they think that by consistently providing them with wealth and children,
Pickthal : Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them
Yusuf Ali : Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons


Verse:056
Abdul Daryabadi : We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not.
Dr. Mohsin : We hasten unto them with good things (Naz it is Fitnah (trail) in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? but they perceive not. (Tafsir At-Qurtubi)
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We are accelerating the (real) good things to them? The fact, however, is that they do not understand (the reality). [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not.
Yusuf Ali : We would hasten them on in every good? Nay they do not understand.


Verse:057
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily! those who live in awe for fear of their Lord;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Contrarily) those who are anxious out of awe of their Lord,
Pickthal : Lo! those who go in awe for fear of their Lord.
Yusuf Ali : Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord;


Verse:058
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who believe in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And those who believe in the verses of their Lord
Pickthal : And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord,
Yusuf Ali : Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord;


Verse:059
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who with their Lord associate not anyone.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord;
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And those who do not associate any partner to their Lord,
Pickthal : And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord,
Yusuf Ali : Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord;


Verse:060
Abdul Daryabadi : And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be retutners
Dr. Mohsin : And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, have been accepted or not)[], because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And those who give whatever they give, with their hearts full of fear that to their Lord they are to return [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord,
Yusuf Ali : And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord―


Verse:061
Abdul Daryabadi : These are hastening on to good, and they are therein foremost.
Dr. Mohsin : It is these who hasten in the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salât (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Those people are accelerating towards the (real) good things, and they are the foremost to attain them.
Pickthal : These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race.
Yusuf Ali : It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them.


Verse:062
Abdul Daryabadi : And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged.
Dr. Mohsin : And We task not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We do not place a burden on anyone except according to his ability. With Us there is a book which speaks with truth, and they shall not be wronged.
Pickthal : And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged.
Yusuf Ali : On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged.


Verse:063
Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay, but their hearts are covered from (understanding) this (the Qur'ân), and they have other (evil) deeds, besides, which they are doing.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But their hearts are in ignorance about this, and they have deeds, other than that, which they are continuously doing. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing;
Yusuf Ali : But their hearts are in confused ignorance of this; and there are, besides that, deeds of theirs, which they will (continue) to do


Verse:064
Abdul Daryabadi : Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring!
Dr. Mohsin : Until, when We seize those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! they make humble invocation with a loud voice.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Until when We will seize their affluent ones with punishment, they will suddenly start crying.
Pickthal : Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate.
Yusuf Ali : Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold they will groan in supplication!


Verse:065
Abdul Daryabadi : Implore not to-day; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured.
Dr. Mohsin : Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then it will be said to them,) “Do not cry today. You will not be helped by Us.
Pickthal : Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us.
Yusuf Ali : (It will be said:) "Groan not in supplication this day; for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us.


Verse:066
Abdul Daryabadi : Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back.
Dr. Mohsin : Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and refusing with hatred to listen to them).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : My verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels
Pickthal : My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels,
Yusuf Ali : "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you but ye used to turn back on your heels


Verse:067
Abdul Daryabadi : Stiff-necked, discoursing thereof by night, reviling.
Dr. Mohsin : In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Qur'ân) by night.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : In arrogance, making it a subject of tales at night, talking nonsense (about it).”
Pickthal : In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together.
Yusuf Ali : "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night."


Verse:068
Abdul Daryabadi : Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient?
Dr. Mohsin : Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allâh, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, is it that they did not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or there has come to them something that did not come to their forefathers? [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old?
Yusuf Ali : Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old?


Verse:069
Abdul Daryabadi : Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers?
Dr. Mohsin : Or is it that they did not recognize their Messenger (Muhammad SAW) so they deny him?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Or did they not recognize their messenger and therefore they denied him?
Pickthal : Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him?
Yusuf Ali : Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him?


Verse:070
Abdul Daryabadi : Or, say they: in him is madness? O Aye he brought them the truth, and most of them to the truth are averse.
Dr. Mohsin : Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "Tauhîd: Worshipping Allâh Alone in all aspects The Qur'ân and the religion of Islâm,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Or do they say, “He is suffering from madness?” No, but he has come to them with truth, but it is the truth that most of them dislike.
Pickthal : Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth.
Yusuf Ali : Or do they say "He is possessed"? Nay he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth.


Verse:071
Abdul Daryabadi : And were the truth to follow their desires there would have been corrupted the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is therein. Aye! We have come to them with their admonition; so it is from their admonition that they turn away.
Dr. Mohsin : And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all those therein would have fallen in total disorder. However, We have brought to them their advice, but it is their advice that they are averse to.
Pickthal : And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away.
Yusuf Ali : If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition.


Verse:072
Abdul Daryabadi : Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers.
Dr. Mohsin : Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them for some wages? But the recompense of your Lord is better, and He is the Best of those who give sustenance.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Or is it that you (O Prophet) demand remuneration from them? But the remuneration from your Lord is best, and He is the best of all givers.
Pickthal : Or dost thou ask of them (O Muhammad) any tribute? But the bounty of thy Lord is better, for He is Best of all who make provision.
Yusuf Ali : Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance.


Verse:073
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily thou! thou callest them unto a Path straight.
Dr. Mohsin : And certainly, you (O Muhammad SAW) call them to the Straight Path (true religion - Islâmic Monotheism).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely you are inviting them to a straight path,
Pickthal : And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a right path.
Yusuf Ali : But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way;


Verse:074
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating.
Dr. Mohsin : And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion - Islâmic Monotheism).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And those who do not believe in the Hereafter are surely the deviators from the Path.
Pickthal : And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path.
Yusuf Ali : And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way.


Verse:075
Abdul Daryabadi : And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed.
Dr. Mohsin : And though We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, still they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And if We have mercy on them and remove whatever distress they have, they would still persist obstinately in their rebellion, wandering blindly (in disbelief).
Pickthal : Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy.
Yusuf Ali : If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro.


Verse:076
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We took hold of them with the torment, yet they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allâh) with submission to Him.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We have already seized them with punishment, but they did not turn humble to their Lord, nor do they supplicate in humility, [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray,
Yusuf Ali : We inflicted Punishment on them, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord nor do they submissively entreat (Him)!―


Verse:077
Abdul Daryabadi : Until when we shall open upon them a portal of severe torment, and lo! thereat they are desparing
Dr. Mohsin : Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! they will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Until when We will open against them the door of a severe punishment, they will be taken aback in despair.
Pickthal : Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat.
Yusuf Ali : Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein!


Verse:078
Abdul Daryabadi : And He it is Who brought forth for you hearing and sight and hearts, little thanks ye give!
Dr. Mohsin : It is He, Who has created for you (the sense of) hearing (ears), eyes (sight), and hearts (understanding). Little thanks you give.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is the One who created for you ears and eyes and hearts. Little you are grateful.
Pickthal : He it is Who hath created for you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye!
Yusuf Ali : It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling, and understanding: little thanks it is ye give!


Verse:079
Abdul Daryabadi : And He it is Who spread you on the earth, and unto Him ye will be gathered.
Dr. Mohsin : And it is He Who has created you on the earth, and to Him you shall be gathered back.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And He is the One who created you on the earth, and it is He unto whom you will be gathered together.
Pickthal : And He it is Who hath sown you broadcast in the earth, and unto Him ye will be gathered.
Yusuf Ali : And He has multiplied you through the earth, and to Him shall ye be gathered back.


Verse:080
Abdul Daryabadi : And He it is Who quickeneth and causeth to die, and His is the alternation of night and day; will ye not then reflect?
Dr. Mohsin : And it is He Who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of night and day. Will you not then understand?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And He is the One who gives life and brings death, and it is He who controls the alternation of night and day. So, do you not understand?
Pickthal : And He it is Who giveth life and causeth death, and His is the difference of night and day. Have ye then no sense?
Yusuf Ali : It is He Who gives life and death and to Him (is due) the alternation of Night and Day: will ye not then understand?


Verse:081
Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! they say the like of that which said the ancients.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay, but they say the like of what the men of old said.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But they say as the earlier people had said.
Pickthal : Nay, but they say the like of that which said the men of old;
Yusuf Ali : On the contrary they say things similar to what the ancients said.


Verse:082
Abdul Daryabadi : They say: when we are dead, and have become dust and bones, shall we verily be raised up?
Dr. Mohsin : They said: "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected indeed?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They said, “Is it that, when we will die and become dust and bones - is it that we will be raised again?
Pickthal : They say: When we are dead and have become (mere) dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again?
Yusuf Ali : They say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again?


Verse:083
Abdul Daryabadi : Assuredly this we have been promised--we and our fathers--aforetime: naught is this but the fables of the ancients.
Dr. Mohsin : "Verily, this we have been promised, - we and our fathers before (us)! This is only the tales of the ancients!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : This is what has been promised to us and to our fathers before. It is nothing but the tales of the ancients.”
Pickthal : We were already promised this, we and our forefathers. Lo! this is naught but fables of the men of old.
Yusuf Ali : "Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! They are nothing but tales of the ancients!"


Verse:084
Abdul Daryabadi : Say thou: whose is the earth and whosoever is therein, if you know?
Dr. Mohsin : Say: "Whose is the earth and whosoever is therein? If you know!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Say, “Whose is the earth and all those therein if you have knowledge?”
Pickthal : Say: Unto Whom (belongeth) the earth and whosoever is therein, if ye have knowledge?
Yusuf Ali : Say: "To whom belongs the earth and all beings therein? (Say) if ye know!"


Verse:085
Abdul Daryabadi : They will surely say: Gods. Say thou: will ye not then heed?
Dr. Mohsin : They will say: "It is Allâh's!" Say: "Will you not then remember?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will say, “Allah’s.” Say, “Would you still pay no heed?
Pickthal : They will say: Unto Allah. Say: Will ye not then remember?
Yusuf Ali : They will say "To Allah!" Say: "Yet will ye not receive admonition?"


Verse:086
Abdul Daryabadi : Say thou: who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the mighty throne?
Dr. Mohsin : Say: "Who is (the) Lord of the seven heavens, and (the) Lord of the Great Throne?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Say, “Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne?”
Pickthal : Say: Who is Lord of the seven heavens, and Lord of the Tremendous Throne?
Yusuf Ali : Say: "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme?"


Verse:087
Abdul Daryabadi : They will surely say: God. Say thou: will ye not then fear?
Dr. Mohsin : They will say: "Allâh." Say: "Will you not then fear Allâh (believe in His Oneness, obey Him, believe in the Resurrection and Recompense for every good or bad deed)?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will say, “(All this belongs) to Allah”. Say, “Would you still not fear Allah?”
Pickthal : They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: Will ye not then keep duty (unto Him)?
Yusuf Ali : They will say "(They belong) to Allah." Say: "Will ye not then be filled with awe?"


Verse:088
Abdul Daryabadi : Saythou: in whose hands is the governance of everything, and who sheltereth but from whom none is sheltered, if ye know?
Dr. Mohsin : Say "In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)? And He protects (all), while against Whom there is no protector, (i.e. if Allâh saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allâh punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know?" [Tafsir Al-Qurtubî]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Say, “Who is the One in whose hand lies the kingdom of every thing and who gives protection, and no protection can be given against him, if you have knowledge?”
Pickthal : Say: In Whose hand is the dominion over all things and He protecteth, while against Him there is no protection, if ye have knowledge?
Yusuf Ali : Say: "Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things who protects (all) but is not protected (of any)? (Say) if ye know."


Verse:089
Abdul Daryabadi : They will surely say: Gods. Say thou: how then are ye turned away?
Dr. Mohsin : They will say: "(All that belongs) to Allâh." Say: "How then are you deceived and turn away from the truth?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will say, “(All this belongs) to Allah.” Say, “Then by which magic are you drawn crazy?”
Pickthal : They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: How then are ye bewitched?
Yusuf Ali : They will say "(It belongs) to Allah." Say: "Then how are ye deluded?"


Verse:090
Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! We have brought them the truth and verily they are the liars.
Dr. Mohsin : Nay, but We have brought them the truth (Islâmic Monotheism), and verily, they (disbelievers) are liars.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The fact is that We have brought to them The Truth, and they are absolute liars.
Pickthal : Nay, but We have brought them the Truth, and lo! they are liars.
Yusuf Ali : We have sent them the Truth: but they indeed practise Falsehood!


Verse:091
Abdul Daryabadi : Allah hath not betaken to Himself any son, and there is not along Him any god; else each god would have gone off with that which he had created, and one of them would have exalted himself above the others. Hallowed be Allah above that which they ascribe!
Dr. Mohsin : No son (or offspring or children) did Allâh beget, nor is there any ilâh (god) along with Him; (if there had been many gods), then, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have tried to overcome others! Glorified is Allâh above all that they attribute to Him!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Allah has not taken a son to Himself, nor was there any god with Him. Had there been so, every god would have taken away what he created, and each one of them would have been aggressive against the other. Pure is Allah from what they describe.
Pickthal : Allah hath not chosen any son, nor is there any God along with Him; else would each God have assuredly championed that which he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. Glorified be Allah above all that they allege.
Yusuf Ali : No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah (He is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to Him!


Verse:092
Abdul Daryabadi : Knower of the unseen and the seen, Exalted is He above that which they associate!
Dr. Mohsin : All-Knower of the unseen and the seen! Exalted is He over all that they associate as partners to Him!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is the Knower of the hidden and the manifest. So, He is far higher than their ascribing of partners to Him.
Pickthal : Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! and Exalted be He over all that they ascribe as partners (unto Him)!
Yusuf Ali : He knows what is hidden and what is open: too high is He for the partners they attribute to Him!


Verse:093
Abdul Daryabadi : Say thou; my Lord! if Thou wilt shew me that wherewith they are threatened.
Dr. Mohsin : Say (O Muhammad SAW): " My Lord! If You would show me that with which they are threatened (torment),
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O prophet) say (in prayer), “O my Lord, if You are to show me (in my life) that (punishment) which they (the infidels) are threatened with,
Pickthal : Say: My Lord! If Thou shouldst show me that which they are promised.
Yusuf Ali : Say: "O my Lord! if Thou wilt show me (in my lifetime) that which they are warned against―


Verse:094
Abdul Daryabadi : My Lord! then place me not among the wrong-doing people.
Dr. Mohsin : "My Lord! Then (save me from Your Punishment), and put me not amongst the people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, my Lord, do not place me among the wrongdoing people.”
Pickthal : My Lord! then set me not among the wrongdoing folk.
Yusuf Ali : "Then O my Lord! put me not amongst the people who do wrong!"


Verse:095
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily to shew them that wherewith We threaten them We are surely Able.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We are Able to show you (O Muhammad SAW) that with which We have threatened them.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And of course, We do have the power to show you that with which We have threatened them.
Pickthal : And verily We are Able to show thee that which We have promised them.
Yusuf Ali : And We are certainly able to show thee (in fulfilment) that against which they are warned.


Verse:096
Abdul Daryabadi : Repel thou the evil with that which is the best, We are the Best Knower of that which they utter.
Dr. Mohsin : Repel evil with that which is better. We are Best-Acquainted with the things they utter.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Repel evil with that which is best. We are well aware of what they describe.
Pickthal : Repel evil with that which is better. We are best aware of that which they allege.
Yusuf Ali : Repel evil with that which is best: We are well-acquainted with the things they say.


Verse:097
Abdul Daryabadi : And say thou: my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee against the whisperings of the satans;
Dr. Mohsin : And say: "My Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings (suggestions) of the Shayâtin (devils).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And say, “My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the strokes of the satans (devils),
Pickthal : And say: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones,
Yusuf Ali : And say: "O my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee from the suggestions of the Evil Ones;


Verse:098
Abdul Daryabadi : And I seek refuge with Thee, my Lord! lest they may be present with me
Dr. Mohsin : "And I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they (should come near) me."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, even from their coming near me.”
Pickthal : And I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, lest they be present with me,
Yusuf Ali : "And I seek refuge with Thee O my Lord! lest they should come near me."


Verse:099
Abdul Daryabadi : lt ceaseth not until when death cometh to one of them, and he saith: my Lord! send me back.
Dr. Mohsin : Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allâh), he says: "My Lord! Send me back,
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The infidels go on doing their misdeeds) until when death comes to one of them, he will say, “My Lord send me back,
Pickthal : Until, when death cometh unto one of them, he saith: My Lord! Send me back,
Yusuf Ali : (In Falsehood will they be) until, when death comes to one of them, he says: "O my Lord! send me back (to life)―


Verse:100
Abdul Daryabadi : That I may work righteously in that which have left. By no means! It is but a word he uttereth; and before them is a barrier until the Day when they shall be raised.
Dr. Mohsin : "So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!" No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So that I may act righteously in that (world) which I have left behind.” Never! It is simply a word he utters, and in front of such people there is a barrier [QETafseerComment] till the day when they will be resurrected.
Pickthal : That I may do right in that which I have left behind! But nay! It is but a word that he speaketh; and behind them is a barrier until the day when they are raised.
Yusuf Ali : "In order that I may work righteousness in the things I neglected."― "By no means! it is but a word he says Before them is a Partition till the Day they are raised up.


Verse:101
Abdul Daryabadi : Then when the Trumpet is blown there will be no lineage among them that Day, nor will they ask of each other.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Thereafter, when the Sur (the trumpet) is blown, no ties of kinship will remain between them any more, nor will they inquire about one another. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : And when the trumpet is blown there will be no kinship among them that day, nor will they ask of one another.
Yusuf Ali : Then when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no more relationships between them that day, nor will one ask after another!


Verse:102
Abdul Daryabadi : Then he whose balances shall be heavy --these! they are the blissful ones.
Dr. Mohsin : Then, those whose scales (of good deeds) are heavy, - these, they are the successful.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, the one whose scales (of good deeds) turn out to be heavy, then such people are the successful ones,
Pickthal : Then those whose scales are heavy, they are the successful.
Yusuf Ali : Then those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy― they will attain salvation:


Verse:103
Abdul Daryabadi : And he whose balances shall be light--these are they who have lost themselves: in Hell they are abiders.
Dr. Mohsin : And those whose scales (of good deeds) are light, they are those who lose their ownselves, in Hell will they abide.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And the one whose scales turn out to be light, then such people are the ones who harmed their own selves; in Jahannam (Hell) they are to remain for ever.
Pickthal : And those whose scales are light are those who lose their souls, in hell abiding.
Yusuf Ali : But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls; in Hell will they abide.


Verse:104
Abdul Daryabadi : The Fire will scorch their faces, and therein they shall be grinning.
Dr. Mohsin : The Fire will burn their faces, and therein they will grin, with displaced lips (disfigured).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Fire will scorch their faces, and they will be disfigured therein.
Pickthal : The fire burneth their faces, and they are glum therein.
Yusuf Ali : The Fire will burn their faces, and they will therein grin, with their lips displaced.


Verse:105
Abdul Daryabadi : Have not My revelations been rehearsed unto you, and them ye have been belying?
Dr. Mohsin : "Were not My Verses (this Qur'ân) recited to you, and then you used to deny them?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : It will be said to such people), “Were My verses not used to be recited to you and you used to reject them?”
Pickthal : (It will be said): Were not My revelations recited unto you, and then ye used to deny them?
Yusuf Ali : "Were not My Signs rehearsed to you, and ye did but treat them as falsehoods?"


Verse:106
Abdul Daryabadi : They will say: our Lord! our wretchedness overcame, us, and we have been a people erring.
Dr. Mohsin : They will say: "Our Lord! Our wretchedness overcame us, and we were (an) erring people.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will say, “Our Lord, our wretchedness prevailed over us, and we were a people wandering astray.
Pickthal : They will say: Our Lord! Our evil fortune conquered us, and we were erring folk.
Yusuf Ali : They will say: "Our Lord! our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray!


Verse:107
Abdul Daryabadi : O our Lord! take us forth from it: then if we return, we shall be wrong-doers indeed.
Dr. Mohsin : "Our Lord! Bring us out of this; if ever we return (to evil), then indeed we shall be Zâlimûn: (polytheists, oppressors, unjust, and wrong-doers)."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Our Lord, get us out from here; if we do this again, then of course, we will be transgressors.”
Pickthal : Our Lord! Oh, bring us forth from hence! If we return (to evil) then indeed we shall be wrong-doers.
Yusuf Ali : "Our Lord! bring us out of this: if ever we return (to evil), then shall we be wrongdoers indeed!"


Verse:108
Abdul Daryabadi : He shall say: slink away there unto, and speak not unto Me.
Dr. Mohsin : He (Allâh) will say: "Remain you in it with ignominy! And speak you not to Me!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He (Allah) will say, “Stay in it, humiliated, and do not speak to Me.
Pickthal : He saith: Begone therein, and speak not unto Me.
Yusuf Ali : He will say: "Be ye driven into it (with ignominy)! and speak ye not to Me!


Verse:109
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily there was a party of My bondmen who said: our Lord! we have believed, wherefore forgive us and have mercy upon us, and Thou art the Best of the merciful ones!
Dr. Mohsin : Verily! there was a party of My slaves, who used to say: "Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : There was indeed a group of My servants who used to say, ‘Our Lord, we adhere to the (true) faith, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and you are the best of all the merciful.’
Pickthal : Lo! there was a party of My slaves who said: Our Lord! We believe, therefor forgive us and have mercy on us for Thou art Best of all who show mercy;
Yusuf Ali : "A part of My servants there was, who used to pray, `Our Lord! we believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us: for Thou art the Best of those Who show mercy!'


Verse:110
Abdul Daryabadi : Then ye took them mockingly, so that they caused you to forget remembrance of Me, and at them ye were wont to laugh.
Dr. Mohsin : But you took them for a laughingstock, so much so that they made you forget My Remembrance while you used to laugh at them!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : But you made fun of them, so much so that they caused you to forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.
Pickthal : But ye chose them for a laughing-stock until they caused you to forget remembrance of Me, while ye laughed at them.
Yusuf Ali : "But ye treated them with ridicule, so much so that (ridicule of) them made you forget My Message while ye were laughing at them!


Verse:111
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily I have recompensed them today for they bear patiently, verily they! are the achievers.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily! I have rewarded them this Day for their patience, they are indeed the ones that are successful.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Today I have so recompensed them for their observing patience that they are the triumphant.”
Pickthal : Lo! I have rewarded them this day forasmuch as they were steadfast and they verily are the triumphant.
Yusuf Ali : "I have rewarded them this day for their patience and constancy: they are indeed the ones that have achieved Bliss..."


Verse:112
Abdul Daryabadi : He will say: how long tarried ye on the earth in number of year?
Dr. Mohsin : He (Allâh) will say: "What number of years did you stay on earth?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He (Allah) will say (to unbelievers), “How long did you stay on the earth by number of years?”
Pickthal : He will say: How long tarried ye in the earth, counting by years?
Yusuf Ali : He will say: "What number of years did ye stay on earth?"


Verse:113
Abdul Daryabadi : -They will say we tarried a day or part of a day; ask those who keep count.
Dr. Mohsin : They will say: "We stayed a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep account."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They will say, “We stayed for a day or for a part of a day. So, ask those (angels) who have (exact) calculation.”
Pickthal : They will say: We tarried but a day or part of a day. Ask of those who keep count!
Yusuf Ali : They will say: "We stayed a day or part of a day: but ask those who keep account."


Verse:114
Abdul Daryabadi : He will say: ye tarried a little indeed; would that ye had known that:
Dr. Mohsin : He (Allâh) will say: "You stayed not but a little, if you had only known!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He will say, “You did not stay but for a little. Would that you had understood (this at that time)!
Pickthal : He will say: Ye tarried but a little if ye only knew.
Yusuf Ali : He will say: "Ye stayed not but a little― if ye had only known!


Verse:115
Abdul Daryabadi : Deem ye that We have created youl in vain and that unto Us ye are not to be returned?
Dr. Mohsin : "Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So did you think that We created you for nothing, and that you will not be brought back to Us?”
Pickthal : Deemed ye then that We had created you for naught, and that ye would not be returned unto Us?
Yusuf Ali : "Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be brought back to Us (for account)?"


Verse:116
Abdul Daryabadi : So exalted be Allah, the True King! there is no god but he, Lord of the Throne honoured.
Dr. Mohsin : So Exalted is Allâh, the True King, Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, High above all is Allah, the King, the True. There is no god but He, the Lord of the Noble Throne.
Pickthal : Now Allah be Exalted, the True King! There is no God save Him, the Lord of the Throne of Grace.
Yusuf Ali : Therefore exalted be Allah, the King the Reality; there is no god but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!


Verse:117
Abdul Daryabadi : And whosoever calleth, along with Allah, unto anot her god, of whom he hath no warranty, then his reckoning is only with his Lord; verily thrive will not the infidels.
Dr. Mohsin : And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters) will not be successful
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And whoever invokes another god with Allah, while he has no proof for it, his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely, the infidels will not achieve success.
Pickthal : He who crieth unto any other god along with Allah hath no proof thereof. His reckoning is only with his Lord. Lo! disbelievers will not be successful.
Yusuf Ali : If anyone invokes, besides Allah any other god, he has no authority therefor; and his reckoning will be only with his Lord! And verily the Unbelievers will fail to win through!


Verse:118
Abdul Daryabadi : And say thou: my Lord! forgive and have mercy, and Thou art the Best of the merciful ones.
Dr. Mohsin : And say (O Muhammad SAW): "My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And say (O prophet) “My Lord, grant pardon and have mercy, for you are the best of all the merciful.”
Pickthal : And (O Muhammad) say: My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for Thou art Best of all who show mercy.
Yusuf Ali : So say: "O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy! for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!"
