Verse:002
Abdul Daryabadi : Saying: ye shall not worship ought except Allah. Verily I am unto you from Him a warner and a bearer of glad tidings.
Dr. Mohsin : (Saying) worship none but Allâh. Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Directing the Prophet to say to the people,) “You must not worship anyone other than Allah; I am for you a warner from Him, and a bearer of glad tidings;
Pickthal : (Saying): Serve none but Allah. Lo! I am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings.
Yusuf Ali : (It teacheth) that ye should worship none but Allah. (Say:) "Verily I am (sent) unto you from Him to warn and to bring glad tidings:

Verse:003
Abdul Daryabadi : And that: ask forgiveness of your Lord, then repent toward Him, He will let you enjoy a goodly enjoyment until a term appointed and will vouchsafe unto every owner of grace His grace. And if ye turn away, verily I fear for you the torment of a Great Day.
Dr. Mohsin : And (commanding you): "Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words). But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And you must seek forgiveness from your Lord, then, turn to Him in repentance, and He will provide you with good things to enjoy for a given time, and bestow His extra favor on everyone who has extra good deeds (in his account). And if you turn away, then, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day.
Pickthal : And (bidding you): Ask pardon of your Lord and turn to Him repentant. He will cause you to enjoy a fair estate until a time appointed. He giveth His bounty unto every bountiful one. But if ye turn away, lo! (then) I fear for you the retribution of an awful Day.
Yusuf Ali : ("And to preach thus) `Seek ye the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance; that He may grant you enjoyment, good (and true), for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding grace on all who abound in merit! But if ye turn away then I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day:

Verse:004
Abdul Daryabadi : Unto Allah is your return, and He is over everything Potent.
Dr. Mohsin : To Allâh is your return, and He is Able to do all things."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : To Allah is your return, and He is powerful over everything.”
Pickthal : Unto Allah is your return, and He is Able to do all things.
Yusuf Ali : "`To Allah is your return and He hath power over all things.'"

Verse:005
Abdul Daryabadi : Lo! they fold their breasts that they may hide from Him. Lo! when they cover themselves with their garments, He knoweth that which they conceal and that which they make known. Verily He is the Knower of the secrets of the breasts.
Dr. Mohsin : No doubt! They did fold up their breasts, that they may hide from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Verily, He is the All-Knower of the (innermost secrets) of the breasts.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Beware, they bend their chests to hide from Him. Beware, when they cover up themselves with their clothes, He knows what they hide and what they expose. [QETafseerComment] Surely, He is All Aware of what lies in the hearts.
Pickthal : Lo! now they fold up their breasts that they may hide (their thoughts) from Him. At the very moment when they cover themselves with their clothing, Allah knoweth that which they keep hidden and that which they proclaim. Lo! He is Aware of what is in the breasts (of men).
Yusuf Ali : Behold! They fold up their hearts, that they may lie hid from Him! Ah! Even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knoweth what they conceal, and what they reveal: for He knoweth well the (inmost secrets) of the hearts.

Verse:006
Abdul Daryabadi : And there is not a moving creature on the earth but upon Allah is the sustenance thereof, and He knoweth its habitation and its resting-place: everything is in a Book luminous.
Dr. Mohsin : And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allâh. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterus, grave). all is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz - the Book of Decrees with Allâh).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : There is no creature on earth whose sustenance is not undertaken by Allah. He knows its permanent and its temporary place. Everything is in a clear book.
Pickthal : And there is not a beast in the earth but the sustenance thereof dependeth on Allah. He knoweth its habitation and its repository. All is in a clear Record.
Yusuf Ali : There is no moving creature on earth but its sustenance depends on Allah: He knoweth the time and place of its definite abode and its temporary deposit: all is in a clear Record.

Verse:007
Abdul Daryabadi : And He it is who hath created the heavens and the earth in six days -and His throne was upon the water--that he might prove you, as to which of you is excellent in work. And if thou sayest: ye shall verily be raised after death, surely those who disbelieve will say: naught is this but sorcery manifest.
Dr. Mohsin : And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: "You shall indeed be raised up after death," those who disbelieve would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious magic.[]"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, while His throne was on water, so that He might test you as to who among you is better in deed. And if you say, “You shall be raised after death,” the disbelievers will surely say, “This is nothing but sheer magic.”
Pickthal : And He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days - and His Throne was upon the water - that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. Yet if thou (O Muhammad) sayest: Lo! ye will be raised again after death! those who disbelieve will surely say: This is not but evident magic.
Yusuf Ali : He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was over the Waters that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou wert to say to them "Ye shall indeed be raised up after death," the Unbelievers would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious sorcery!"

Verse:008
Abdul Daryabadi : And if We defer from them the torment until a period determined, they say: What withholdeth it! Lo! the day it betideth them it shall not be averted from them, and shall beset them that whereat they have been mocking.
Dr. Mohsin : And if We delay the torment for them till a determined term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Verily, on the day it reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be surrounded by (or fall in) that at which they used to mock!
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And if We defer the punishment for them for a certain time, they will say, “What is holding it back?” Beware, the day it will visit them, it shall not be turned back from them, and they shall be besieged by what they used to ridicule.
Pickthal : And if We delay for them the doom until a reckoned time, they will surely say: What withholdeth it? Verily on the day when it cometh unto them, it cannot be averted from them, and that which they derided will surround them.
Yusuf Ali : If We delay the Penalty for them for a definite term, they are sure to say "What keeps it back?" Ah! on the day it (actually) reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Verse:009
Abdul Daryabadi : And if We let man taste mercy from us, and thereafter withdraw it from him, verily he is despairing, blaspheming.
Dr. Mohsin : And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! he is despairing, ungrateful.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : If We give man a taste of Our mercy and then take it away from him, he becomes highly desperate, utterly ungrateful.
Pickthal : And if we cause man to taste some mercy from Us and afterward withdraw it from him, Lo! he is despairing, thankless.
Yusuf Ali : If We give man a taste of mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy.

Verse:010
Abdul Daryabadi : And if We let him taste favour after harm hath touched him, he saith: the ills have departed from me; verily he becometh elated, boastful.
Dr. Mohsin : But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allâh).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And if We give him a taste of comfort after a hardship has touched him, he will say, “Evils have gone away from me”, (and thus) He will become over-exulting, boastful,
Pickthal : And if We cause him to taste grace after some misfortune that had befallen him, he saith: The ills have gone from me. Lo! he is exultant, boastful;
Yusuf Ali : But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, He is sure to say "All evil has departed from me;" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride.

Verse:011
Abdul Daryabadi : Not so are those who persevere and do righteous works. Those! theirs shall be forgivness and a great hire.
Dr. Mohsin : Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Except those who are patient and do good deeds. Such people will have Allah’s forgiveness and a great reward.
Pickthal : Save those who persevere and do good works. Theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward.
Yusuf Ali : Not so do those who show patience and constancy, and work righteousness; for them is forgiveness (of sins) and a great reward.

Verse:012
Abdul Daryabadi : So hapoy thou mayest abandon part of that hich hath been revealed unto thee, and thy breast is straitened thereby, because they say: wherefore hath not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel come with him! Thou art but a warner, and of everything Allah is the Trustee.
Dr. Mohsin : So perchance you (Muhammad SAW) may give up a part of what is revealed unto you, and that your breast feels straitened for it because they say, "Why has not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel has come with him?" But you are only a warner. And Allâh is a Wakîl (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian) over all things.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Is it then possible from you (O Prophet,) that you will abandon some of what is being revealed to you, and that your heart will be straitened thereby, because they say, “Why has a treasure not been sent down to him or an angel not come with him?” You are but a warner. And Allah takes care of everything. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : A likely thing, that thou wouldst forsake aught of that which hath been revealed unto thee, and that thy breast should be straitened for it, because they say: Why hath not a treasure been sent down for him, or an angel come with him? Thou art but a warner, and Allah is in charge of all things.
Yusuf Ali : Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him? But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!

Verse:013
Abdul Daryabadi : Or say they: he hath fabricated it? Say thou: bring ye then ten Surahs the like thereunto fabricated, and call whomsoever ye can beside Allah, if ye say sooth.
Dr. Mohsin : Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad SAW) forged it (the Qur'an)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Sûrahs (chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allâh (to your help), if you speak the truth!"
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Do they say that he has fabricated it? Say (to them), “Then bring ten Surahs like this, fabricated. And call whomsoever you can, other than Allah, if you are true.” [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : Or they say: He hath invented it. Say: Then bring ten surahs, the like thereof, invented, and call on everyone ye can beside Allah, if ye are truthful!
Yusuf Ali : Or they may say "He forged it." Say "Bring ye then ten Surahs forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!― if ye speak the truth!

Verse:014
Abdul Daryabadi : Then if they respond you not, know that it hath been sent down only with the Knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god but he; are ye Muslims then?
Dr. Mohsin : If then they answer you not, know then that it [the Revelation (this Qur'ân)] is sent down with the Knowledge of Allâh and that Lâ ilâha illa Huwa: (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! Will you then be Muslims (those who submit to Islâm)?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, if they do not respond to your call, then be assured that it has been sent down with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no god but He. So, do you submit?
Pickthal : And if they answer not your prayer, then know that it is revealed only in the knowledge of Allah; and that there is no God save Him. Will ye then be (of) those who surrender?
Yusuf Ali : "If then they (your false gods) answer not your (call), know ye that this Revelation is sent down (replete) with the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god but He! Will ye even then submit (to Islam)?"

Verse:015
Abdul Daryabadi : Whosoever desireth the life of the world and the adornment thereof, We shall repay them in full their works therein, and in it they shall not be defrauded.
Dr. Mohsin : Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Those who seek (merely) the worldly life and its beauty, We will fully recompense them herein for their acts, and their right will not be curtailed in this world.
Pickthal : Whoso desireth the life of the world and its pomp, We shall repay them their deeds herein, and therein they will not be wronged.
Yusuf Ali : Those who desire the life of the Present and its glitter to them We shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein― without diminution.

Verse:016
Abdul Daryabadi : These are they for whom there is not in the Hereafter save the Fire; to naught shall come that which they have performed, and vain is that which they have been working
Dr. Mohsin : They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Those are the people for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except fire. Nullified will be whatever they worked herein, and void will be what they have been doing.
Pickthal : Those are they for whom is naught in the Hereafter save the Fire. (All) that they contrive here is vain and (all) that they are wont to do is fruitless.
Yusuf Ali : They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire: vain are the designs they frame therein, and of no effect are the deeds that they do!

Verse:017
Abdul Daryabadi : Is he like unto him who resteth upon an evidence from His Lord, so and there rehearseth it a witness from Him And before it was the Book of Musa, a pattern and a mercy; these believe therein; and whosoever of the sects disbelieveth therein, the Fire is his promised place. Be then thou not in dubitation thereof, verily it is the truth from thy Lord, yet most of the mankind believe not.
Dr. Mohsin : Can they (Muslims) who rely on a clear proof (the Qur'ân) from their Lord, and whom a witness [Jibrail (Gabriel A.S.] from Him recities (follows) it (can they be equal with the disbelievers); and before it, came the Book of Mûsa (Moses), a guidance and a mercy, they believe therein, but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Qur'ân), the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. So be not in doubt about it (i.e. those who denied Prophet Muhammad SAW and also denied all that which he brought from Allâh, surely, they will enter Hell). Verily, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the mankind believe not[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : [QETafseerComment] Then, can such people be equal to the one who has a clear proof from his Lord, followed by an evidence from within, and before which there was the Book of Musa, a guide and a mercy? [QETafseerComment] Such people believe in it; and whoever of the groups denies its veracity, his promised place is the Fire. So, do not be in doubt about it. Surely, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of people do not believe.
Pickthal : Is he (to be counted equal with them) who relieth on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him reciteth it, and before it was the Book of Moses, an example and a mercy? Such believe therein, and whoso disbelieveth therein of the clans, the Fire is his appointed place. So be not thou in doubt concerning it. Lo! it is the Truth from thy Lord; but most of mankind believe not.
Yusuf Ali : Can they be (like) those who accept a Clear (Sign) from their Lord, and whom a witness from Himself doth teach as did the Book of Moses before― it a guide and a mercy? They believe therein; but those of the Sects that reject it― the Fire will be their promised meeting place. Be not then in doubt thereon: for it is the Truth from thy Lord: yet many among men do not believe!

Verse:018
Abdul Daryabadi : And who doth greater wrong than he who fabricateth a lie against Allah! these shall be set before their Lord, and the witnesses shall say; these are they who lied against their Lord. Lo! the curse of Allah shall fall on the wrong-doers-
Dr. Mohsin : And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allâh. Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allâh is on the Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors)[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Who is more unjust than the one who forges a lie against Allah? Such people will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, “These are the ones who lied against their Lord. Lo! the curse of Allah lies on the unjust,
Pickthal : Who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah? Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say: These are they who lied concerning their Lord. Now the curse of Allah is upon wrong-doers,
Yusuf Ali : Who doth more wrong than those who invent a lie against Allah? They will be turned back to the presence of their Lord, and the witnesses will say "These are the ones who lied against their Lord! Behold! the Curse of Allah is on those who do wrong!―

Verse:019
Abdul Daryabadi : Who hinder others from the way of Allah and would seek crockedness therein, and they: in the Hereafter they are disbelievers.
Dr. Mohsin : Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allâh (Islâmic Monotheism), and seek a crookedness therein, while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The ones who prevent (people) from the way of Allah and seek crookedness in it, and who are deniers of the Hereafter.”
Pickthal : Who debar (men) from the way of Allah and would have it crooked, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter.
Yusuf Ali : "Those who would hinder (men) from the path of Allah and would seek in it something crooked: these were they who denied the Hereafter!

Verse:020
Abdul Daryabadi : These could not escape on the earth, nor could there be for them protectors against Allah; doubled shall be the torment for them; they were notable to hearken, nor would they be clear sighted.
Dr. Mohsin : By no means will they escape (from Allâh's Torment) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allâh! Their torment will be doubled! They could not bear to hear (the preachers of the truth) and they used not to see (the truth because of their severe aversoin, inspite of the fact that they had the sense of hearing and sight).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They were unable to frustrate (Allah’s plan) on the earth, and they had no supporters besides Allah. Punishment will be doubled for them. They were not able to hear, nor would they see.
Pickthal : Such will not escape in the earth, nor have they any protecting friends beside Allah. For them the torment will be double. They could not bear to hear, and they used not to see.
Yusuf Ali : They will in nowise frustrate (His design) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allah! Their Penalty will be doubled! They lost the power to hear, and they did not see!

Verse:021
Abdul Daryabadi : These are they who have lost their souls, and hath strayed from them that which they have been fabricating.
Dr. Mohsin : They are those who have lost their ownselves, and their invented false deities will vanish from them.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Those are the ones who brought loss to their own selves, and all that they used to fabricate vanished from them.
Pickthal : Such are they who have lost their souls, and that which they used to invent hath failed them.
Yusuf Ali : They are the ones who have lost their own souls: and the (fancies) they invented have left them in the lurch!

Verse:022
Abdul Daryabadi : Undoubtedly they! in the Hereafter they shall be the greatest losers.
Dr. Mohsin : Certainly, they are those who will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Essentially, they are the worst losers in the Hereafter.
Pickthal : Assuredly in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers.
Yusuf Ali : Without a doubt, these are the very ones who will lose most in the Hereafter!

Verse:023
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who believed and worked righteous works and humbled themselves before their Lord--they shall be the fellows of the Garden: therein they shall be abiders.
Dr. Mohsin : Verily, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and humble themselves (in repentance and obedience) before their Lord, - they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely, those who believe and do good deeds and humble themselves before their Lord, those are the people of Paradise. There they shall live forever.
Pickthal : Lo! those who believe and do good works and humble themselves before their Lord: such are rightful owners of the Garden; they will abide therein.
Yusuf Ali : But those who believe and work righteousness, and humble themselves before their Lord― they will be Companions of the Garden, to dwell therein for aye!

Verse:024
Abdul Daryabadi : The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and deaf, and the seeing and hearing. Are the twain equal in likeness? Admonished are ye not then?
Dr. Mohsin : The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then take heed?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The example of the two groups is that of a blind and deaf person on the one hand, and a seeing and hearing one on the other. Are the two equal when compared? Would you still pay no heed?
Pickthal : The similitude of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal in similitude? Will ye not then be admonished?
Yusuf Ali : These two kinds (of men) may be compared to the blind and deaf, and those who can see and hear well. Are they equal when compared? Will ye not then take heed?

Verse:025
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We sent Nuh unto his people saying: verily I am unto you a plain warner.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We sent Nûh (Noah) to his people (and he said): "I have come to you as a plain warner."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We sent Nuh to his people (saying to them): “I am here to warn you
Pickthal : And We sent Noah unto his folk (and he said): Lo! I am a plain warner unto you.
Yusuf Ali : We sent Noah to his people (with a mission): "I have come to you with a Clear Warning:

Verse:026
Abdul Daryabadi : That ye shall worship none except Allah; verily I fear for you the torment of a Day afflictive.
Dr. Mohsin : "That you worship none but Allâh, surely, I fear for you the torment of a painful Day."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : That you should worship none but Allah, (otherwise) I fear for you the punishment of a painful day.”
Pickthal : That ye serve none, save Allah. Lo! I fear for you the retribution of a painful Day.
Yusuf Ali : "That ye serve none but Allah: verily I do fear for you the Punishment of a Grievous Day."

Verse:027
Abdul Daryabadi : The chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said: we behold thee except as a human being like us, and we behold not any follow thee except the meanest of us, by an immature opinion; nor We behold in you any exellency over us; nay! we deem you liars.
Dr. Mohsin : The chiefs who the disbelieved among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So the chiefs of his people who disbelieved replied, “We are not seeing that you are anything more than a man like us, and we are not seeing that any people have followed you except those who are the meanest among us having shallow opinion, and we have not seen in you people any superiority over us; rather, we believe that you are liars.”
Pickthal : The chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: We see thee but a mortal like us, and we see not that any follow thee save the most abject among us, without reflection. We behold in you no merit above us - nay, we deem you liars.
Yusuf Ali : But the Chiefs of the Unbelievers among his people said: "We see (in) thee nothing but a man like ourselves: nor do we see that any follow thee but the meanest among us, in judgment immature: nor do we see in you (all) any merit above us: in fact we think ye are liars!

Verse:028
Abdul Daryabadi : He said: bethink ye, O my people! if I rested upon an evidence from my Lord, and a mercy hath come unto me from Him, and that hath been obscured unto you, Shall we make you adhere to it while ye are averse thereto?
Dr. Mohsin : He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and a Mercy (Prophethood) has come to me from Him, but that (Mercy) has been obscured from your sight. Shall we compel you to accept it (Islâmic Monotheism) when you have a strong hatred for it?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He said, “O my people, tell me, if I am on a clear path from my Lord, and He has bestowed mercy upon me from Himself which is hidden from your sight, shall we, then, impose it upon you by force, while you are averse to it?
Pickthal : He said: O my people! Bethink you, if I rely on a clear proof from my Lord and there hath come unto me a mercy from His presence, and it hath been made obscure to you, can we compel you to accept it when ye are averse thereto?
Yusuf Ali : He said: "O my people! see ye if (it be that) I have a Clear Sign from my Lord and that He hath sent Mercy unto me from His own Presence, but that the Mercy hath been obscured from your sight? Shall we compel you to accept it when ye are averse to it?

Verse:029
Abdul Daryabadi : And, O my people, I ask not of you any riches therefor; my hire is not but with Allah. And I am not going to drive away those who have believed; verily they are going to meet their Lord; but I behold you a people ignorant!
Dr. Mohsin : "And O my people! I ask of you no wealth for it, my reward is from none but Allâh. I am not going to drive away those who have believed. Surely, they are going to meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people that are ignorant
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And, O my people, I do not demand from you any wealth for it. My reward is with none but Allah. And I am not the one who could drive the believers away. [QETafseerComment] Surely, they will be meeting their Lord (gracefully), but I do see your behavior is that of ignorance.
Pickthal : And O my people! I ask of you no wealth therefor. My reward is the concern only of Allah, and I am not going to thrust away those who believe - Lo! they have to meet their Lord! - but I see you a folk that are ignorant.
Yusuf Ali : "And O my People! I ask you for no wealth in return: my reward is from none but Allah: but I will not drive away (in contempt) those who believe: for verily they are to meet their Lord, and ye I see are the ignorant ones!

Verse:030
Abdul Daryabadi : O My people! who will succour me against Allah, if I drave them away! Admonished are ye not then?
Dr. Mohsin : "And O my people! Who will help me against Allâh, if I drove them away? Will you not then give a thought?
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O my people, who would help me against (the punishment of) Allah, if I were to drive them away? Would you still take no lesson?
Pickthal : And, O my people! who would deliver me from Allah if I thrust them away? Will ye not then reflect?
Yusuf Ali : "And O my People! who would help me against Allah, if I drove them away? Will ye not then take heed?

Verse:031
Abdul Daryabadi : And I say not unto you that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor that I know the Unseen; nor I say, I am an angel. And say not of those whom your eyes condemn that Allah shall not bestow on them good --Allah knoweth best that which is in theeir souls. Verily in that case would be of the wrong-doers.
Dr. Mohsin : "And I do not say to you that with me are the Treasures of Allâh, "Nor that I know the Ghaib (unseen);"nor do I say I am an angel, and I do not say of those whom your eyes look down upon that Allâh will not bestow any good on them. Allâh knows what is in their inner-selves (as regards belief, etc.). In that case, I should, indeed be one of the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers, oppressors)."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And I do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah, nor that I have the knowledge of the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel. Yusuf Ali : "I tell you not that with me are the Treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor claim I to be an angel. Nor yet do I say of those whom your eyes do despise that Allah will not grant them (all) that is good: Allah knoweth best what is in their souls: I should, if I did indeed be a wrongdoer."

Dr. Mohsin : He said: "O my people! Is then my family of more weight with you than Allâh? And you have cast Him away behind your backs. Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He said, “O my people, is my clan more respectable to you than Allah, as you have taken Him as something thrown behind your backs? Surely, my Lord encompasses all that you do.
Pickthal : He said: O my people! Is my family more to be honoured by you than Allah? and ye put Him behind you, neglected! Lo! my Lord surroundeth what ye do.
Yusuf Ali : He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do!

Verse:093
Abdul Daryabadi : And, O my people! work according to your condition, verily I am going to work in my way; presently ye shall know on whom cometh a torment humiliating him and who is a liar. And Watch, verily I also am with you a watcher.
Dr. Mohsin : "And O my people! Act according to your ability and way, and I am acting (on my way). You will come to know who it is on whom descends the torment that will cover him with ignominy, and who is a liar! And watch you! Verily, I too am watching with you."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : O my people, do what you can, I am to do (what I can). Soon you will know the one whom the punishment will visit, putting him to disgrace, and the one who is false. And wait. I am, with you, waiting.”
Pickthal : And, O my people! Act according to your power, lo! I (too) am acting. Ye will soon know on whom there cometh a doom that will abase him, and who it is that lieth. And watch! Lo! I am a watcher with you.

Verse:094
Abdul Daryabadi : And when our decree came to pass, We delivered Shuaib and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us, and the shout overtook those who did wrong, so they lay in their dwellings crouching.
Dr. Mohsin : And when Our Commandment came, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us. And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) seized the wrong-doers, and they lay (dead) prostrate in their homes.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And when Our command came, We saved Shu‘aib and those who believed along with him, out of mercy from Us; and those who transgressed were caught by the Cry, and they were found (dead) in their homes, fallen on their knees,
Pickthal : And when Our commandment came to pass We saved Shu'eyb and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us; and the (Awful) Cry seized those who did injustice, and morning found them prostrate in their dwellings,

Dr. Mohsin : As if they had never lived there! So away with Madyan (Midian)! as away with Thamud! (All these nations were destroyed).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : As though they never lived there. Lo! Ruined were Madyan, like Thamud were ruined.
Pickthal : As though they had not dwelt there. A far removal for Midian, even as Thamud had been removed afar!
Yusuf Ali : As if they had never dwelt and flourished there! Ah! behold! How the Madyan were removed (from sight) as were removed the Thamud!

Verse:096
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly We sent Musa with Our signs and a manifest warranty.
Dr. Mohsin : And indeed We sent Mûsa (Moses) with Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and a manifest authority;

Pickthal : And verily We sent Moses with Our revelations and a clear warrant
Yusuf Ali : And We sent Moses, with Our Clear (Signs) and an authority manifest

Verse:097
Abdul Daryabadi : Unto Firawn and his chiefs. But they followed the commandment of Firawn, and the commandment of Firawn was not right-minded.
Dr. Mohsin : To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : To Pharaoh and his group. So, they followed the command of Pharaoh, while the command of Pharaoh was not right.
Pickthal : Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they did follow the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was no right guide.
Yusuf Ali : Unto Pharaoh and his Chiefs: but they followed the command of Pharaoh and the command of Pharaoh was no rightly guided.

Verse:098
Abdul Daryabadi : He shall head his people on the Day of Resurrection and cause them to descend into the Fire, ill is the descent, descended!
Dr. Mohsin : He will go ahead of his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will lead them into the Fire, and evil indeed is the place to which they are led.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : He will lead his people on the Day of Judgement, and make them descend into the Fire. And it is the evil descending place.
Pickthal : He will go before his people on the Day of Resurrection and will lead them to the Fire for watering-place. Ah, hapless is the watering-place (whither they are) led.

Dr. Mohsin : They were pursued by a curse in this (deceiving life of this world) and (so they will be pursued by a curse) on the Day of Resurrection. Evil indeed is the gift gifted [i.e., the curse (in this world) pursued by another curse (in the Hereafter)].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The curse was made to pursue them here and on the Day of Judgement. It is the evil reward to be offered.
Pickthal : A curse is made to follow them in the world and on the Day of Resurrection. Hapless is the gift (that will be) given (them).
Yusuf Ali : And they are followed by a curse in this (life) and on the Day of Judgment: and woeful is the gift which shall be given (unto them)!

Mufti Taqi Usmani : That is a part of stories of the towns that We narrate to you. Some of them are still standing, and (some are) eradicated like a harvested field. [QETafseerComment]
Pickthal : That is (something) of the tidings of the townships (which were destroyed of old). We relate it unto thee (Muhammad). Some of them are standing and some (already) reaped.

Dr. Mohsin : We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their âlihah (gods), other than Allâh, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught (to them) but destruction.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We did no wrong to them; rather, they have wronged themselves. So, their gods whom they used to invoke beside Allah did not come to their help in any way, when came the command of your Lord, and they added nothing to them except destruction.
Pickthal : We wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves; and their gods on whom they call beside Allah availed them naught when came thy Lord's command; they added to them naught save ruin.
Yusuf Ali : It was not We that wronged them: they wronged their own souls: the deities, other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them no whit when there issued the decree of thy Lord: nor did they add aught (to their lot) but perdition!

Verse:102
Abdul Daryabadi : And even such is the overtaking of thy Lord when He overtaketh the cities while they are wrong-doers; verily His overtaking is afflictive, severe.
Dr. Mohsin : Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful, (and) severe[].
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Such is the seizing of your Lord when He seizes the (people of) towns when they are transgressing. Indeed, His seizing is painful, severe.
Pickthal : Even thus is the grasp of thy Lord when He graspeth the townships while they are doing wrong. Lo! His grasp is painful, very strong.
Yusuf Ali : Such is the penalty of thy Lord when He chastises communities in the midst of their wrong: grievous, indeed, and severe is His chastisement.

Verse:103
Abdul Daryabadi : Verily herein is a sign unto him who feareth the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind shall be gathered together, and that is a Day to be witnessed.
Dr. Mohsin : Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : In this there is a sign for the one who fears the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a day when all the people shall be gathered together, and that is a day which will be witnessed by all.
Pickthal : Lo! herein verily there is a portent for those who fear the doom of the Hereafter. That is a day unto which mankind will be gathered, and that is a day that will be witnessed.

Yusuf Ali : Nor shall We delay it but for a term appointed.

Verse:105
Abdul Daryabadi : The day it cometh no soul shall speak save by His leave: then of them some shall be wretched and some blessed.
Dr. Mohsin : On the Day when it comes, no person shall speak except by His (Allâh's) Leave. Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : The day it comes no one shall speak except by His leave. So, some of them will be wretched and (some) blessed.
Pickthal : On the day when it cometh no soul will speak except by His permission; some among them will be wretched, (others) glad.

Abdul Daryabadi : As for those who shall be wretched. they shall be in the Fire, wherein for them shall be panting and roaring.
Dr. Mohsin : As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : As for those who are wretched, they shall be in the Fire. For them there is (nothing but) crying and howling.
Pickthal : As for those who will be wretched (on that day) they will be in the Fire; sighing and wailing will be their portion therein,
Yusuf Ali : Those who are wretched shall be in the Fire: there will be for them therein (nothing but) the heaving of sighs and sobs:

Verse:107
Abdul Daryabadi : Abiders they shall be therein, so long as the heavens and the earth remain, save as thy Lord may will. Verily thy Lord is the Doer of whatsoever He intendeth.
Dr. Mohsin : They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the Doer of whatsoever He intends (or wills).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : They shall remain there forever, as long as the heavens and the earth remain intact, [QETafseerComment] unless your Lord wills (otherwise). [QETafseerComment] Surely, your Lord does what He intends.
Pickthal : Abiding there so long as the heavens and the earth endure save for that which thy Lord willeth. Lo! thy Lord is Doer of what He will.
Yusuf Ali : They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as thy Lord willeth: for thy Lord is the (sure) Accomplisher of what He planneth.

Verse:108
Abdul Daryabadi : And as for those who shall be blest, they shall be in the Garden, as abiders therein so long as the heavens and the earth remain, save as thy Lord may will. a gift unending.
Dr. Mohsin : And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills, a gift without an end.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : As for those who are blessed, they shall be in Paradise living there forever, as long as the heavens and the earth remain intact, unless your Lord wills (otherwise), It will be an award never to be ceased.
Pickthal : And as for those who will be glad (that day) they will be in the Garden, abiding there so long as the heavens and the earth endure save for that which thy Lord willeth: a gift unfailing.
Yusuf Ali : And those who are blessed shall be in the Garden: they will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as thy Lord willeth: a gift without break.

Verse:109
Abdul Daryabadi : So be not thou in dubitation concerning that which these people worship. They worship not save as their fathers worshipped afore; and verily We will repay unto them in full their portion, undiminished.
Dr. Mohsin : So be not in doubt (O Muhammad SAW) as to what these people (pagans and polytheists) worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them). And verily, We shall repay them in full their portion without diminution.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, be not in doubt about what they worship. They worship only in the way their fathers used to worship earlier. Surely, We are going to pay them their full share, not curtailed in the least.
Pickthal : So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these (folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated.
Yusuf Ali : Be not then in doubt as to what these men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them): but verily We shall pay them back (in full) their portion without (the least) abatement.

Verse:110
Abdul Daryabadi : And assuredly vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, and disputation arose thereabout; and had not a word preceded from thy Lord, it would have been decreed between them. And verily they are concerning that in doubt disquieting.
Dr. Mohsin : Indeed, We gave the Book to Mûsa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Qur'ân).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And We gave Musa the Book, then it was disputed about. But for a word from your Lord that had already come to pass, the matter would have been decided between them. Surely, they are in confounding doubt about it.
Pickthal : And we verily gave unto Moses the Scripture, and there was strife thereupon; and had it not been for a Word that had already gone forth from thy Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and lo! they are in grave doubt concerning it.
Yusuf Ali : We certainly gave the Book to Moses, but differences arose therein: had it not been that a Word had gone forth before from thy Lord, the matter would have been decided between them: but they are in suspicious doubt concerning it.

Verse:111
Abdul Daryabadi : And verily unto each will thy Lord repay their works in full; verily of that which they work He is Aware.
Dr. Mohsin : And verily, to each of them your Lord will repay their works in full. Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.

Dr. Mohsin : So stand (ask Allâh to make) you (Muhammad SAW) firm and straight (on the religion of Islâmic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allâh) with you, and transgress not (Allâh's legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : So, stand firm (on faith) as you have been commanded, as well as those who having repented (from disbelief) have joined you, and do not cross the limits. Surely, He is watchful of what you do.
Pickthal : So tread thou the straight path as thou art commanded, and those who turn (unto Allah) with thee, and transgress not. Lo! He is Seer of what ye do.
Yusuf Ali : Therefore stand firm (in the straight path) as thou art commanded― thou and those who with thee turn (unto Allah); and transgress not (from the Path): for He seeth well all that ye do.

Verse:113
Abdul Daryabadi : And lean not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and ye have no protectors beside Allah nor ye would then be succoured.
Dr. Mohsin : And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allâh, nor you would then be helped[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And do not incline towards the wrongdoers, lest the Fire should catch you, and you have no supporters other than Allah, then you should not be helped.
Pickthal : And incline not toward those who do wrong lest the Fire touch you, and ye have no protecting friends against Allah, and afterward ye would not be helped.
Yusuf Ali : And incline not to those who do wrong, or the Fire will seize you; and ye have no protectors other than Allah, nor shall ye be helped.

Verse:114
Abdul Daryabadi : And establish thou the prayer at the two ends of the day, and in the neighbouring watches of the night verily virtues take away vices. That is a reminder unto the mindful.
Dr. Mohsin : And perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salât (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).[]
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Establish Salah at both ends of the day, and in the early hours of the night. Surely, good deeds erase bad deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.
Pickthal : Establish worship at the two ends of the day and in some watches of the night. Lo! good deeds annul ill-deeds. This is reminder for the mindful.
Yusuf Ali : And establish regular prayers at the two ends of the day and at the approaches of the night: for those things that are good remove those that are evil: be that the word of remembrance to those who remember (their Lord):

Verse:115
Abdul Daryabadi : And be patient thou; verily Allah wasteth not the hire of the welldoers.
Dr. Mohsin : And be patient; verily, Allâh wastes not the reward of the good-doers.

Verse:116
Abdul Daryabadi : Why were there not of the generations before you owner of wisdom restraining others from corruption on the earth, except a few of those whom We delivered from amongst them! And those who did wrong followed that in which they luxuriated, and they had been sinners.
Dr. Mohsin : If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasâd (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, (but there were none) except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers in Allâh, polytheists, sinners).
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Then, why is it that there were no people, among the generations before you, who would have enough remnants of wisdom to stop others from creating disorder in the land, except a few among them whom We saved (from Our punishment)? And the wrongdoers pursued the luxuries they were involved in, and they became sinners.
Pickthal : If only there had been among the generations before you men possessing a remnant (of good sense) to warn (their people) from corruption in the earth, as did a few of those whom We saved from them! The wrong-doers followed that by which they were made sapless, and were guilty.
Yusuf Ali : Why were there not among, the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced good sense prohibiting (men) from mischief in the earth― except a few among them whom We saved (from harm)? But the wrongdoers pursued the enjoyment of the good things of life which were given them, and persisted in sin.

Verse:117
Abdul Daryabadi : And thy Lord is not one to destroy cities wrongously while the inhabitants thereof are rectifiers.
Dr. Mohsin : And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Your Lord is not such that He would destroy the towns unjustly while their people are good in their ways.
Pickthal : In truth thy Lord destroyed not the townships tyrannously while their folk were doing right.
Yusuf Ali : Nor would thy Lord be the One to destroy communities for a single wrongdoing if its members were likely to mend.

Verse:118
Abdul Daryabadi : And had thy Lord Willed, He would surely have made mankind of one community, and they will not cease differing.
Dr. Mohsin : And if your Lord had so willed, He could surely have made mankind one Ummah [nation or community (following one religion only i.e. Islâm)], but they will not cease to disagree,—
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Had your Lord willed, He would have made all the people a single community. But, they will continue in their differences,
Pickthal : And if thy Lord had willed, He verily would have made mankind one nation, yet they cease not differing,
Yusuf Ali : If thy Lord had so willed, He could have made mankind one People: but they will not cease to dispute

Verse:119
Abdul Daryabadi : Save these on whom thy Lord hath mercy; and for that he hath created them. And fulfilled will be the word of thy Lord: surely I will fill Hell with the jinn and mankind together.
Dr. Mohsin : Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth - Islâmic Monotheism) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : Except those whom Allah has blessed with mercy, and for that He has created them. [QETafseerComment] And perfect is the word of your Lord: “I will surely fill the Hell with Jinns and the human beings, all together.”
Pickthal : Save him on whom thy Lord hath mercy; and for that He did create them. And the Word of thy Lord hath been fulfilled: Verily I shall fill hell with the jinn and mankind together.

Abdul Daryabadi : And all that We recount unto thee of the stories of the apostles is in order that We may make firm thy heart thereby. And in this there hath come to thee truth and an exhortation and an admonition unto the believers.
Dr. Mohsin : And all that We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) of the news of the Messengers is in order that We may make strong and firm your heart thereby. And in this (chapter of the Qur'an) has come to you the truth, as well as an admonition and a reminder for the believers.
Mufti Taqi Usmani : We narrate to you all such stories from the events of the messengers as We strengthen your heart therewith. And in these (stories) there has come to you the truth, a good counsel and a reminder to those who believe.
Pickthal : And all that We relate unto thee of the story of the messengers is in order that thereby We may make firm thy heart. And herein hath come unto thee the Truth and an exhortation and a reminder for believers.

Dr. Mohsin : And you wait ! We (too) are waiting."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : And wait. We too are waiting.”
Pickthal : And wait! Lo! We (too) are waiting.
Yusuf Ali : "And wait ye! we too shall wait."

Verse:123
Abdul Daryabadi : And Allahs is the Unseen of the heavens and the earth, and unto Him the whole affair shall be brought back. So worship Him thou and rely on Him; and thy Lord is not negligent of that which ye work.
Dr. Mohsin : And to Allâh belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad SAW) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."
Mufti Taqi Usmani : To Allah belong the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and to Him the entire matter shall be returned. So worship Him and have trust in Him. Your Lord is not unaware of what you do.
Pickthal : And Allah's is the Invisible of the heavens and the earth, and unto Him the whole matter will be returned. So worship Him and put thy trust in Him. Lo! thy Lord is not unaware of what ye (mortals) do.
Yusuf Ali : To Allah do belong the unseen (secrets) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him goeth back every affair (for decision): then worship Him, and put thy trust in Him: and thy Lord is not unmindful of aught that ye do.
